Does anyone know how the ball numbers get allocated to teams? Is it just pot luck?

Numbers probably put in one bag, team names in another and then two tea-ladies at the FA probably select one each alternately !

I think each tie has a number, and the winner of the tie gets that number in the next round. Were we the first game drawn last time?

Its how the matches were drawn for the last round. So Barnsley Cov was match 1 and ball 1 for the draw.
