SKY Blues fans who experienced similar crushing and chaos at Hillsborough just two years before Britain's worst sporting disaster are being urged to come forward and give evidence for the latest inquiry.

Did anything happen that year? Obviously it didn't to the same scale , but until this inquest, it's never really been mentioned of (I was 1 the year of Hillsborough so don't remember that let alone anything before )

I was there for the Semi ... No problem at all. Maybe as we were at the other end of the stadium.

No different from standing at Highfield Road.

I did not go but was wondering, In the quarter finals .. were the city fans at the Spion Kop end?

In the semi's, I was in the main stand and Leeds Utd fans were in the Spoin kop end. That's the end where the tragedy happened.

We had the leppings lane end for the quarter finals. I remember starting the afternoon in the pen behind the goal but by kick off had been pushed to a pen by the corner under the police control box. For the semi final against Leeds we had the kop end and the main stand, it looked chaos amongst the Leeds fans.

We were in the Leppings Lane. Took a minibus we were in a pen behind the goal had to get my dad out we were getting crushed made our way into the corner. Had a great view plenty of room could see the crush in those pens was glad to be out of it.

Oh wait OBN .. yes you are right from looking at the stadium plan I now remember, we were in the Spoin kop end and the west/main stand (Lepping lane) was Leeds fans where.

I vividly remember seeing Kieth Edwards score for Leeds at the Lepping end and thought oh please no!! but then Bennet scored the winning goal also at that same end but unfortunately due to my height did not see that goal though I knew from the roar of the sky blue crowd we had scored...What great day.

Will need to check for my Semi final ticket stub in the attic to make sure it is still there.

btw .. if you check the Hillsborough tragedy wiki page they mention the problems experienced in our quarter and semi final matches there.

Shit .. so this was an accident waiting to happen. It could have easily happened to us City fans. What a lucky escape.

There was a recent thread on this matter. The crush started for me before we got into the ground. I picked my feet up and got carried to the turnstiles. And I am not exactly small.

I was there right up against the fence to the right of the goal as you view the pitch. We got crushed several times but the pressure was relieved just before it got too much to bear. Quite scary actually but we were young and this was not as unusual experience as younger fans today might not realise. There were many times at matches when you were nearly crushed or were carried along on waves getting out of terracing. Of course it seems ridiculous now but until Ibrox and Hillsborough there wasn't the public outcry to make games safe. Some grounds were literally accidents waiting to happen.

Stoke in the 5th round was at the old victoria ground, the crush was quite bad there. In the quarters I was in the elevated terrace it was the scariest football experience, we couldn't get into the pens behind the goal and were directed to this terrace area, i was 20 and reasonable fit but could not move to face the pitch. It got better just before Regis scored the opener. After that it was better. Leppings lane was badly designed with insufficient entrance points for a crowd of 10,000

remember getting through the turnstiles and faced with a wall of people trying to get onto the terraces. The tanoy announcer was telling supporters to move forward as people were still trying to get in at this we started pushing trying to get through those small arches that lead to the terraces.

was utter madness really could have been us.

We got there 10 mins late as we couldn't find anywhere to park.

Just two points of access as I recall either straight ahead as you went through the gates or to the left ,natural instinct woud have been to go straight on.

don't know If there was access at the other end of the stand .
never should have happened and never should hav ebeen set at 15K for that end ,10K standing
