Whilst I agree with some of what he's stated, and his intention; I think it weakens his argument to describe SISU's ambition with regards the Ricoh as a 'Cash Cow'. Such terminology insinuates it will be a steady, low-endeavour, high-return income for the lazy business investor. Even the most strident anti-SISI protestor would recognise that investment has far exceeded return for SISU. They want to pull back these haemorrhaging losses to feather the nest of their exit strategy. Thinking they will get an easy, effortless return from the Ricoh for years to come is a touch fanciful....

Haha.

In all seriousness, the coverage or campaigning has been a real team effort by the Cov Telegraph team. And, as I've said before, the fans are the ones who deserve the credit for getting the club back.

Have to say I am a little disappointed with the Sports Ministers response

Haven't read it yet, but last time Aisnworth got sports minister on the spot she said "blah blah.. football has promised to reform.. blah blah.. looking at it.. blah blah .. we will do nothing"

Same old.. I'm hoping some of the major parties put legislation to reform game in its manifesto for next election, but I'm not holding my breath!

Well done for your coverage Simon. Where do you take it from here though? There are still many questions to ask of the club and its owners but also I feel of those that run the game. Will you and the CT press those questions to all those parties and get proper answers?

As long as we can get a Coventry angle we will keep asking the questions and printing the answers. I know David Conn is looking at this from a national perspective too.

Alternatively I could convince a national paper to hire me and carry it on from there. Although, I'm not sure it's that easy!

Getting mentioned in Parliament wont have hurt your employment profile - unlike some.

The Grendel and RobS conspiracy widens. It goes all the way to Whitehall!

Well done Simon (and the others).

Simon - perhaps you can now turn your attention to the farce surrounding the opening (or not) of the South Stand. I would love to hear an explanation from the SAG.

Looks like it will be opened now. Probably concern over the proximity of supporters. Not sure if Gillingham is known for its hooligan element though...

Simon, please don't forget your roots when you become a world famous investigative reporter! . Seriously, the Minister's response was just a bit more politcal blah blah and I'm sure nothing will change in the forseeable future. As has been said before, it was disappointing but not surprising.

Not opening 9 or 10 to home fans, something they did for Crewe game. Camera angle being what it is, that end will essentially look empty on TV. A real shame and nobody willing to explain why.

Simon - may be also ask why Gills fans have pay on the gate option. Clealry security was not the key issue for keeping these blocks closed for segregation.

When we played Spurs, away, a few seasons back, there was only about 10 feet of netting between us and the Spurs fans - if that. No empty blocks, no line of Police. Where's the common principle at play here?

I hasten to add, Tottenham aren't unusual in that regard - it's the last time I can recall being at an away game with close to capacity crowds.

Again, and I hate to offer tacit support twice for our glorious owners in the same thread - but this has to be a Police call/stewarding issue. There's no way our owners could wish to turn away paying punters

I would like to know more about the Football League's involvement as mentioned by the MP in that extract.

We shouldn't forget about the Football League just because City is home. They have created a precedent that could be used by the owners of football clubs in future.

Exactly, they would charge people watching on Sky if they could. There would be no way they wouldn't sell every single seat if they could.

I don't see the need for all the heavies, unless they are expecting some sort of protest etc?

We have generally always had large segregations and I don't know why. Would be nice to have an explanation from the LAPD.
