Any one else remember the days when the club couldn't even give tickets away for home games?

Wasn't even that long ago, I remember sitting in block 15 in league 2 and it was just us for 3 rows either side.

How so ? One of our members has to go on line and try and get them like everybody else does, as the 'bands' open.

People are getting confused, what they are thinking of is the supporters clubs that have met the "sponsorship" cost.

The Tav one clearly has (probably paid out of the business account and recouped by these 20 quid charges)

the points system is ridiculous anyway, if you weren’t around at the start you can’t buy tickets to amass points because you don’t have enough points, so you never get to away games / cup games etc..

it should be done on first come first served when tickets are released otherwise it’s an elite club who always get to buy tickets before everybody else has a chance.

lol

The "elite" club being loyal supporters?

Once you've had a season ticket for 4 years you'll have almost 1000 points which gives you access to many fixtures. It's not that you can never get in, just takes time.

When this was the case there were the same couple hundred fans queueing around the stadium in league 2 and 1 and more to guarantee tickets .. in league 2 the same faces were at every game , in league 1 the same faces were at every game ..

Now these fans were rewarded for their loyalty because they travelled to every away game against Fleetwood in the freezing wind at 19:45 or at Wycombe in -8 at night and got higher points when they were introduced

A free for all of tickets used to happen , and fans like yourself moaned they couldn't get tickets still .. fans like yourself always moan about tickets tbh but we rarely see the moaners at sunderland Middlesborough or Swansea , they usually come out for local games that sell out fast

The problem isn't people with more points having access to games they'd like it's the sell on culture that has taken hold. I've bought a few from people with higher points so I am a bit of a hypocrite but as I had to give up my ST I no longer have the allocation so it's that or miss out.

Facebook, twitter, WhatsApp and here were flush with tickets for Tuesday. A lot of the people that went got 0 points as they could only secure them on a re-sale.

sorry pal, I’m not moaning about tickets - I get tickets as and when I want, and you have no idea what games I go to (probably more than you) so you can kindly fuck right off

If you actually think about it, does this system encourage new fans or not? I would argue no, not when you can’t get a ticket unless you’ve been going for years and have a certain number of points

The Tavern aside, I don't think the club have let the supporters' clubs know what the cost is for player sponsorship this season. Guessing will be circa £2k. That 'may' then guarantee 30 tickets, which the supporters club would then allocate to those going with the highest number of points having priority, but they will still have to pay for the tickets, and those going are nearly always those who travel most of the time anyway, and already have the required points. What it does for the supporters club is help organise travel with a degree of certainty. You don't want to hire a 50 seater coach then find out you only have 12 people who managed to get hold of tickets, due to on-line issues.

I think it encourages more people to go to the games that don't sell out so that they can build their points up over several years like everybody else

disagree - it probably does encourage people to buy tickets that don’t sell out but not go, just to build up points, which then leads to empty seats and wasted tickets

I still don’t think most people would think about it that way though

Someone in a reply to the original tweet says their club can buy up to 84 so i guess that is what the Tavern have as they already have a coach that runs to every game.

I really think people are odd if they buy tickets to see nothing (especially if they cannot sell them on). The whole point about gaining points is to be able to obtain tickets; so actually obtaining tickets to not then go is baffling to me!?!

Must be a 'special' one off arrangement with the Tavern. Fair enough, if so.

i guess the idea is you then have more of a chance of getting tickets to games you actually want to go to.

People do buy them though as they know they'll sell.

Plymouth away last season in the pub beforehand I spoke to a load of Devon and Cornwall based fans and most had bought them from someone who purchased to amass points as they didn't want to miss out.

yes, I know, but the point is people may not want to go to Plymouth away on a Tuesday night, but do want the option of buying a ticket for WBA, or Derby away, and as such will buy the ‘less attractive’ tickets to build up points to be able to then buy the tickets they want

it does happen, because I know people who have been doing it…

People buying tickets to keep themselves l33t and not going is a sh*tload worse and more annoying than supporters clubs getting 100ish tickets.

yep, I agree, but that’s what people have to do unfortunately to build up points I guess

also forgive me, I am not sure what l33t is
