Was that the first time they've played the 'instrumental' version as the players walk out? It was quite beautiful, I was worried it was being replaced, but hats off to the DJ.

Time for the fans to sing in unison when it's played.

It was always the music we came out to, and you'd get a couple of bars of it after a goal.

Does anyone know where I can find the audio for this online, searched high and low but can’t find this version. Really brought back some nostalgia on Saturday!

Always peters out now. This used to be sung louder and prouder than all our songs, but almost always now it starts off loud and barely finishes.

Much prefer Mr Blue Sky TBH but maybe it just cemented itself at the right time in my early years watching City. Can never listen to it without adding in an announcer reading out players in my head.

It's a version by Ted Heath and his orchestra (not that Ted Heath) released in 1963. They were a big band at the time.

That's a great song, but it's not ours.

The Sky Blue Song is synonymous with us; it's ours and we should revel in it (same as Norwich, Leeds and Birmingham do with songs that are uniquely theirs). Doesn't matter if you think it's good or not, it's *us*.

No one is talking about replacing the Sky Blue Song. And I’d argue that having used Mr Blue Sky on and off for what 20+ years makes it *us*

No, but your statement was that you'd prefer ELO as music to walk out to. Fair enough, but I disagree.

If you wanted to, you similarly could argue that that Groovy Feeling by Fluke is ours because they used to play it as the ground was clearing in the 90s. Both are tunes I've heard lots at CCFC games, but I don't think them *ours*.

Groovy Feeling was a belter, btw.

Jeff Lynn is a Brummie, so that invalidates Mr Blue Sky for me.

Gets as far as the line about Tottenham, Chelsea and United and all the fans realise we should probably stop name-checking teams we’ve not been in the same league as for 20 years.

With no mention of smelly toilets, desperation or towns - which is a bonus!

Doesn’t change the fact Tom Clarke is a brummie though.
