ACL could just become a 100% subsidiary of the club and run the stadium, the only people who would lose their jobs would probably be board members and those are likely to be unpaid and part time.

I think you stuck this bit in after my first reply - but I like it! That would seem quite workable.

But what if that sale price of the freehold that allegedly Joy demanded for any chance of our return to the Ricoh was say less than the Higgs gave us for our share of the project?

If we just look at what they put in the Higgs need £6m the council £10m equity + 14m ACL mortgage

£30m all told, DEAL?

SISU's present route two is spending at least £25m on an alternative stadium + maybe £10m in losses over the 3-5 year period = £35m in total.

If you seriously believe that they're going to build the White Elephant stadium then you're in a minority.

If they were serious about this new stadium idea they'd have announced more progress than they have currently which seems deliberately vague. Tim promised us the plans would be published within weeks of the forum and yet here we are and no plans. Rugby Council said it has still had not been approached by any party regarding Brandon stadium when contacted by the Telegraph about Brandon. http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/sky-blues-agree-deal-buy-5317030

I would be surprised if they had not offered a sum in that order for the freehold of the Ricoh.

I think the problem is more likely to be with the council wanting more for it than that!

I'd be surprised if they'd offered £10m for it and that guess is likely to be far too high.

Someone kept mentioning that the reason ACL weren't keen to sell was that they would all lose their jobs and that's not really a stumbling block.

Well you might like that price and I might think it's not bad, but we're not a hedge fund owner and if we went with the OSB58 guesstimate of £5 for the freehold

Only a guess but I would bet on Seppala wanting the freehold of the whole site for somewhere less than £5m (why offer a sensible sum ?) and her being prepared to keep going to legal actions to drain the stakeholders of cash so picking up the freehold and ACL. Pick it up for a pittance flip the site for a big gain. No tax to pay because of losses, repay the SISU debt job done.

Then you're only out by 6 times the amount, so no room for negotiation if the ACL statement is true.

What if it isn't true?

Also, you've clearly never bartered.

I've seen nothing to say it isn't true and if you have something defamatory written about you then it is in your interests to take action, as if you don't it becomes harder to defend next time someone makes the same allegation. Given the SISU predeliction for court action or at the very least resorting to lawyers I find the silence a bit odd.

I work in a shop and have customers who try and get a discount all the time by saying it's cheaper elsewhere and they'll just go there. Also if the ACL statement is true, Joy allegedly wasn't open to negotiation it was her way (and price) or nothing. Now where I work the customer with that attitude is not going to get very far (unless they're offering more than or the same as the asking price).

How do you barter if the other person says take it or leave it, the price is non negotional?

If they were that bothered about defamation, there would be a lot of posters on here needing to appoint solicitors.

It's still a hang up for the power hungry fat cats - they want to be in charge of their own destiny not working for SISU!

There is plenty of room for negotiation between £5m - £30m.

What worries me is recently we have heard little sign of any negotiation taking place!

So they decide to leave when the company is bought and someone of comparable skill is brought in to replace them, happened at a company I worked for which was taken over.

Not if the ACL statement is true (see below)

If the ACL statement is true then that may be the reason why we've heard nothing. The council may feel that the price quoted at the ownership meeting is far too low and that as no negotiation on price is allegedly possible then what is there to negotiate? Our club won't be coming back to the Ricoh unless the the council allegedly sell the freehold to SISU at a (to us) undisclosed price. As I've said before the club is being used as a bargaining chip by SISU and us fans are the hostages.
