According to some on here, the money they make out of our football club is insignificant to the money they make from additional revenue sources. Surely this means that they could afford it as well, and it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference to their profits!

Not true mate - a cursory look at the levels of profit for ACL will show you that every year these have been below the revenue received from CCFC in rent. As soon as the rent stopped getting paid, ACL were in a loss making situation.

OK Torch, you and Grendel put your heads together and come up with a scenario where any organisation, other than the council, would spend c.£30m in emergency unexpected revenue to bail a private football club out of its self-incflicted mess by paying for a new stadium to be built...then let it play there for a peppercorn rent?

Council's have to act like a business - Cov city council does not exist to bale out CCFC. The city does not owe CCFC a living.

Torch and Grendel - also stop harping on about the "market rate for league one" - that argument would only carry substance if we suddenly decided to rent Boundary Park or similar. Our scenario is that someone else has paid for us to have a Premier League standard ground and we need to pay for it accordingly. I don't care what any other club pays, our circumstances are unique.

Just wanna say this, 300k (in and around that area), is not peppercorn, Swansea, Ipswich and Hull pay peppercorn rent.

Relegation has nothing to do with it we were paying 6 times the market rate before relegation and not allowed vital revenue streams. The club had to sign an agreement or die. If you had only one house you could live in and the evil landlord decided to suddenly charge 6 times the rent to your neighbour would be happy?

It is a disgrace, and if the council and ACL had a shred of dignity and morality they would allow a rent free agreement for at least the next 3 seasons to repair some of the damage that has been done to the club and its supporters.

Grenndel you do live in a dreamworld, I swear it. Not only are you happy that the council paid for the Ricoh to be built, you now want to the club to play rent-free? Why on earth do you think we are entitled to such a cushy arrangement?

And, before you answer, for the ten millionth time, £1.2m p/a is a fair rent - it is not extortionate, over the odds, too much....it is fair.

Did you not read the bit where I said I don't care what other clubs pay and that our circumstances are unique?

FFS -stop comparing us to other clubs!

Why? Because comparing clubs harms your argument?

Of course it matters what others pay, because it shows how badly we've been ripped off since 2005, oh, and I'd bet most of the clubs get 100% of their revenue streams, kiosks, parking etc. so actually make something from their fans' efforts.

No, because the circumstances aren't the same. It's not a fair basis of comparison. The other clubs didn't all get their grounds built for them for free. You want to have your cake at eat it.

Even if other clubs get a cushy deal, so what? Why should taxpayers subsidise a cushy deal to which CCFC is not entitled?

Sorry you will just have to get your head round the idea that CCFC are in the wrong.

Of course he doesn't want comparisons. Then the true greed of the council and its quango will be exposed.

Stole bought the Britannia stadium from its council and the local regeneration charity for £6 million. It cost 3 times that to construct.

Stokes council helped the club our council has its head firmly in the sky blue trough.

Wait, so Stoke council gave a free gift to their football club, therefore Coventry council is obliged to do the same? Is that really your logic???

Are you actually Tim Fisher?

If that is the best argument you can come up, with things must be looking bad at SISU Towers.

I don't care about anyone else's opinion when those opinions are a load of old bollocks, no.

I see it all now - you genuinely expect a huge free gift from the council don't you?

Fuck me, it isn't going to happen. I am a taxpayer first and CCFC fan second, the council subsidise the club over my dead fucking body

I think this says it all about you on this subject to be honest - happy to get ripped off.

Coming from a guy who thought Thorn should've kept his job for another 5 years (or for 5 years?) even if we relegated to L2 (!) clearly shows you don't have your head in the right place when it comes to CCFC.

Stoke city purchased the stadium for 5 years of our rent. Compare that to the £24 million quote for all revenue streams.

Doncaster paid no rent till this year and now have access to every bit if revenue generated

Ipswich pay £30,000 a year

Hull pay £47,000 a year

So you say the rent is fair. Justify in light of the above.

So what if those councils gave free gifts to their clubs. Godo for them. Why do you expect the same of Coventry council.

Does "no free gift" equate to "we're being ripped off"?? Sorry, of course, in your mind it does.

Justify fair. When you have a property and need to establish a rental value you evaluate by location and circumstance.

Your deranged post is clearly an acknowledgement that you cannot justify. You are childish and petulant.

Will you be happy when we are paying 1.2M a year in rent when we are relegated to League 1 as a lot of our turnover will be going on the rent of the stadium?

Believing that £1.2M a year in rent is ludicrous, it will slowly kill the club off, and you can forget about anyone ever taking over the club with the rent being so high, no-one else would want to pay through the nose for it.

It's easily more than 1.28m a year, we get fuck all on match day, only a complicated procedure which we get 2nd hand car park sales, which we sell for profit, however, I bet even this process decreases profitability, were probably pay 1.5m because of this lack of revenue streams.

You are really naive, even the most rabid anti-SISU poster admit we pay too much, your position is irrational and untenable.

It's a not-so funny joke yo say that, If you, or anyone genuinely believes anyone on here is to do with SISU, especially that high up, is deluded here. Torch has posted a photo of himself on the board, so that rules him out.

Oh and we got relegated to League One by accident did we? No, it is SISU's fault were are in the league we are in. Would they be happt to increase the rent by x 5 if we got to the Premier? No, because they judged that a fixed level of rent would benefit them when we got to the PL...now they've fucked it up and want someone else to wipe their arse for them

Grendel did, a few posts back. Twice.

The dream scenario for me would be ACL take over the club, if only temporarily, then put Coleman back in charge. The club has been in a nosedive since his disastrous sacking.

Tim, this is all rather unhelpful, why waste your time 24/7 defending a hopeless situation that has clearly gone on for far too long. Sadly CCFC's puppet master JS has no intention of letting you ornthe board agreeiany type of terms with ACL,

Coventry Council is a joke, the city centre is going to ruin, they are ruining our football club. The salaries these people are paid is astronomical how they justify them i do not know. This Mayfair hedge fund is currently CCFC and if it wasn't for them we would have no football club you idiot.

They want to squeeze every penny out of CCFC, i would love it so much if the Ricoh went to ruin. The council do nothing for this City, name me one thing that they do to make it better?

A derisory rent like that equates to a free gift when you think that it was the council who paid for the ground to be built.

Anyone reading these posts would think that we'd paid for the ground ourselves adn were being cheated somehow. Reality check, it is not our ground, we didn't pay for it to be built and ACL has to recoup its investment somehow!
