Fact is a majority of any monies realised for players will most probably have to go to cover losses (hardly asset stripping)
I do question what SISU take out in management fees etc but pretty sure we'd be substantially loss making even if you exclude those costs
You can't say they have asset stripped when they have brought in Fleck, who is likely to be worth more than Bigi in the long run. We had a talented young midfielder and we still have a talented young midfielder. Therefore the assets are the same as this time last week. One might argue that they are better given the other two players that have been signed.
im interested to understand Rich how you can make Fleck worth more than Bigi when Fleck was bought for nothing and Bigi sold for 1million. Also if Fleck is that good why did a prem side not snap him up ?
Didn't the accounts show that Senior Management had not taken wages?
been thinking about that
surely the cupboard must be almost empty
Dont think CCFC will be receiving £1m up front ............ and even without paying the rent we were apparently still making losses, my guess is that before player dealings then there is still a shortfall budgeted for.
Sale of a young player with some potential vs the survival of the club ? wonder what any owner would do? :thinking about:
Clingan, Cranie, Eastwood, McPake and Bigi, plus maybe Keogh, have all been lost from the already depleted squad that we were relegated with and have so far been replaced with an overaged and injury prone un-fit Kilbane, the new Kevin Thornton who is overweight and likes to fight his manager and a scottish striker that I've never heard of and at 28 is probably the next ROD based on his record before coming ... and for this we have seen countless positive threads about how SISU are improving and what a great job they have done so far.
It's sh*t being a City fan
Add Platt Juke and Turner through the season after losing 9 last summer,17 out year on year ,In2 goalies cody and the new three.Three youth Players introduced last year,if keogh goes we need at least 4 more to get to the point where they've acknowledged the error of too much reduction last season ,but we've took on the six youth so don't see this happening.Clingan, Cranie, Eastwood, McPake and Bigi, plus maybe Keogh, have all been lost from the already depleted squad that we were relegated with and have so far been replaced with an overaged and injury prone un-fit Kilbane, the new Kevin Thornton who is overweight and likes to fight his manager and a scottish striker that I've never heard of and at 28 is probably the next ROD based on his record before coming ... and for this we have seen countless positive threads about how SISU are improving and what a great job they have done so far.

You'd be creaming your copiously stained Y fronts if the same three signings came in after a Hoffman takeover...
You talk about it as if its a straight-forward business decision, but as we know football isn't like any other business and as we also know for a business to thrive it must receive suitable levels of investment and that isn't happening on any scale. Yes there are words and promises but without action I think we have good reason based on past performance to be more than a little sceptical.

rob you know i do not buy into football being different because it is footballYes it has more social and community ties that it has to respect. Any business will flounder if it doesn't deal with investment in its future I do not disagree with that. Is it a simple decision ? no but you wouldnt want me to trot out pages of whys and where for's. But the bare bones of how we are now is that we need money to keep going..... so the decision is do we sell a player now or do we hold on to him and struggle to pay wages and overheads, increase the financial pressure so we have unload more players cheaply. We are passing through a financial firestorm and rightly or wrongly CCFC have cut everything to the bone and their only real source of significant funds is player dealings (aside from fans)
I took a look at the transfers done under Waggott during his time as CEO at Charlton
about same number in and out (transfers & loans) ...... getting on for 50 each way. Most on free transfers and out of contract coming in
08/09 made net profit on transfers 4.3m
09/10 made net profit on transfers 2.6m
not saying it was all down to him....... but it is the sort of thing i am expecting at CCFC (hopefully not quite so many names though). I think we need to get used to us cashing in on players to create cashflow especially now in League 1.
