Visiting family Portsmouth this weekend and spotted this SSU OUT sticker on the poster for the upcoming Selecter/Beat gig. Wondering if it's a local? Shame Pompy went up I was looking forward to that fixture

Whenever Lewis is mentioned I think back to when Ian StJohn knocked him out at Highfield Road on a Boxing Day game.Lewis was niggling the fiery Liverpool forward, but did it one time too much and the Scot delivered an uppercut a boxer would have been proud of.I liked Lewis he was a decent player for us.

On a sad note on Brian Lewis he died at just 55 of cancer.

I'm gutted Pompey have gone up...happy for a lot of mates but this means my 'local' match is now Crawley. Not a million miles away to be fair.

I was a kid stood on the Spion Kop with my dad and uncle and the ground was packed.I'm sure we were a first division side then. It was a draw 1-1 and Roger Hunt scored for them. Proper Boxing Day with snow on the pitch !

Checked this game out and I was right it was in 1967 and the attendance was 42,000. Gerry Baker scored for us.What a crowd at Highfield Road !

I remember one of my mates. A Walsall nutter (& I mean nutter!) telling me "5 coaches, 2 trains & however many cars - & they knocked shit out of every one of us!" Lol
For a number of years until I moved down here I was glad we never had to play them!
