And whilst I'm on a roll; why do people keep dropping the c-bomb about Wasps and their supporters? It's misdirected anger; we are justly angry about the situation that the club is in but that isn't Wasps' fault - they simply reacted to a situation in their own best interests. And their supporters are just people who like to watch rugby - it is possible that different people like different things; we are a diverse society and I like it that way. To quote the Au Pairs: "We're equal but different... it's obvious".

So none of it is Wasps fault?

Why on earth would Wasps be accountable for the situation of another independent company? It's none of their business.

Strange, I seem to remember outrage that ACL might go under because of SISU playing underhand tactics. The fact a childrens charity might lose money because of underhand tactics.

Now we have an out of town rugby club and the council working together against the club, but it isn't their fault?

Now it is our club the target of it, it is fine and not their fault?

I can be the owner of a car, but if somebody else comes along and smashes it up is it not their fault because I own it?

You are right, I was outraged at SISU trying to distress a charity; however that was a provocative act. Wasps came into an already intolerable situation and offered the people of Coventry a solution. SISU had already destroyed the relationship with the city by then - it was a reaction not an attack.

Does that mean it's OK to steal a mans wallet if someone else has already kicked the shit out of him?

Of course not, because that is illegal and immoral. However it is OK to buy a house that someone else has trashed because they got evicted because they didn't pay their rent. One might feel pity for the person evicted but you didn't cause it and it's wrong to leave the house empty. You might even offer to let a room to them.

To quote Radiohead: "You do it to yourself, you do. And that's what really hurts".

One direct question which demands an answer: Why was CCFC's offer for the second 50% of ACL rejected (which would have allowed us to have a true financial ground-share with Wasps), in favour of a lower offer from Wasps, an act which defrauded the people of the City of Coventry out of the difference?

My answer is: Sheer petty, bloody-minded vindictiveness. "City of Peace and Reconciliation" it says at the city boundary on signs paid for by Coventry Council. Some chance!

All you've done is illustrate the point so many of us are making.

SISU are the evil hedge fund ripping of a charity for their investors.

Wasps are the sympathetic organisation offering a solution and getting the best deal for their team.

They are one and the same doing the same thing for the same ends. And people keep lapping up the bullshit

Most of our troubles started before SISU, we should have entered admin in 2006 and invited buyers to a debt free club but certain parties wanted their money back didn't they. Then SISU should have done proper due diligence and struck a deal with CCC right then and there over terms of stadium use. After that the owners gave too much money to poor managers who paid overrated players way too much. Then the bullying started, the rent strike, the reduction in financial backing, Sixfields, FFP restrictions, Wasps and now further pointless court cases.
SISU came in with a mandate to make money and have been pitiful owners, their inadequacies turned to spite and their spite led to revenge by a disgusting and traitorous council. CCFC have been like a poor beleaguered kid in a marriage gone horribly wrong !

Because it was a done deal for Wasps having 100%. The lease extension had been approved before that stuff with Higgs half had even gone through hadn't it?

Wasps were never coming here for 50%, it was all a PR act again... Much the same as the door is still open at the Higgs.

Wasps are just looking after their own interests as are SISU, sadly I don't think SISU's interests include CCFC.

Nick ! Plenty of football and rugby teams co-exist right up
As far as the premiership, and Wasps being here hasn't affected Crfc one jot. Ideally I would rather Wasps had stayed at Wycombe they haven't and we all need accept that now and move on, I see a multi million shared training centre as a massive benefit long term to our club and one that may attract new investors, there's loads of land around the Higgs site too

Do many exist in our situation?

Are you sure it hasn't affected CRFC?

So Cov Rugby haven't said they haven't heard anything at all about all of the promises made to them to help Wasps move here? Of course it affects them.

Is there a list of attendances anywhere?

If only we had a TARDIS or other type of time machine. But we don't.

It feels like we are stuck in quicksand with no way out, Several seasons ago I thought we were up to our necks, just a short distance from death or a short time from being recused.

Now I feel it still only up to the waist, with no one around to help and its raining heavily with the quicksand rising more quickly around me.

The one headline I want to read right now is" SISU/OTIUM/ARVO (whatever name they have today) HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING - CCFC SOLD" to someone who puts the FOOTBALL CLUB and its fans FIRST.

Yes, I think everybody would agree with you.

But then who is going to come in and buy the club where they don't own the stadium, they are getting forced out of the academy, the council would try and block any move they try (see Butts).

The perfect time was when SISU came in for somebody else to come in, and they tried didn't they? Where would we have been if A N other came in and linked the ground with the club straight away.

If we had a Tardis to go back to when SISU came in and say no, one of the other interested parties should have it then it would have been perfect.

Here....

Up 25% on previous year and 83% on 5 years ago. Doesn't seem to affected them that much?

That's very true. Perhaps I should have said that it didn't appear to have affected their attendances. It's very much a 'split personality' article. There's no doubt that their attendances have increased so to that extent I think my response to your original question is valid however I think the question should be where would CRFC be if Wasps hadn't arrived?. They've made great progress over the past couple of years but I'm sure that without the arrival of Wasps they would have done a lot better.

I think that where CRFC may struggle in the future is developing own players, attracting young players to their youth system as we know where they will go.

Wasps are the only logical buyer, suddenly having no ground or acedemy facilities become a irrelevant

I have had that thought too. I put it on the other thread that NW made.

Very much like when they tried to force SISU out before.

I have little sympathy with crfc they have become victims of previous barmy decisions of those running the club years ago, sound familiar ? Cov rugger just didn't move with the times when professionalism began to rear its head and allowed the likes of Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints to steal a march and from being perhaps the biggest rugby club in the country to a mear minnow and almost went bust. The success of Wasps illustrates what could have been.

Yet we should all have sympathy when a London Rugby team needs to move here because of their fuck ups in the past. Meanwhile the actualy city's clubs with over 100 years history need to suffer.

Oh Really ???.......................................

Coventry City, £38m in debt and restricted by a transfer embargo, have taken a calculated risk by filing a court notice to go into administration in the hope that a proposed takeover will be completed in the meantime. 'This is merely a process protecting the bank and its creditors,' a club statement said, 'and should speed up the potential takeover and therefore take Coventry City into a solvent financial situation. The legal notice gives Coventry City a 10-day working window to complete the takeover talks with Ray Ranson and Sisu Capital, along with other parties.' The proposed deal would give Sisu at least a half share in the stadium, the Ricoh Arena. The talks are by no means a foregone conclusion and are now focusing on £2m of losses which have been incurred in the past few weeks since Sisu mounted their takeover bid, indicating the extent of the club's financial problems. The Coventry Evening Telegraph commented, 'The nightmare possibility of Coventry City slipping into administration is now very real ...And the damage would not be confined to the club. The repercussions would be felt throughout the city.'

Why were the other 2 bidders who wanted to buy the stadium or at least a share not the preferred ones over SISU?
