Who is the worst manager out of Andy Thorne or Steven Pressley, both had good starts to their manager careers here, both have had to sell their best players and recruit many a journeyman, Pressley has signed 33 either on loan or otherwise, can't remember how many Thorne signed. I am going to assume they were all their choice too. So who is the worst, and why ? Give my answer later.

From memory, I never actually called for Thorn's head once but in hindsight he was a shocking appointment. He was a scout for gods sake and was literally hounded out of Kettering - or wherever he was after us - within a couple of months.

At least he didn't sugar coat things or come out with delusional bullshit. This is where SP has really dug himself a hole, particularly over the past 3 or 4 months. The constant changing of personnel, formations, bigging up players when they sign only to bomb them off several months later, delusional press conferences, talking about building a team but dismantling it after half a season, no tactical awareness, poor decision making. I like him on a personal level (from media sources...I'm not his mate) but I think he and Thorn were on a level footing.

It would've been interesting to see where Thorn would've taken us that season. 3 draws wasn't the worst start in the world particularly as he had just been backed in the transfer market to bring in 10 new signings.

In conclusion, it's a close call and they are both terrible but because of my current anger towards SP and that pile of shit he puts out every week the scales are tipping in his favour. He certainly isn't the man to take us forward although I would love nothing more than to be proved wrong.

I don't think pressley chooses the players directly ..I am sure like other clubs he tells waggot the sort of player he wants ..(ie has been strikers who couldn't hit a barn door from 5 paces..players who have 1 good game in 6 ) and waggott does his best to fill the positions so far waggott has done a very good job of signing players nobody else wants

Thorn as he's not even close to showing any management capability whatsoever. Pressley can conduct training sessions and can communicate.

The evidence is more apparantly actually when you look at the catastrophic time at Kidderminster which descended into abject farce.

It is a difficult call as both worked within disintegrating environments. I don't think Thorn really wanted the job, I think he was cajoled into it. SP 's signings have been poor but his transfer activity has been hampered by the off field problems, so what you see is not what he probably wanted.

I don't rate either highly, but don't dislike them either. I feel both have been let down by poor players with poor attitude, a reflection of the modern game unfortunately.

I see no reason to rate Waggott either. Was he not instrumental in signing these players and both managers? I expected slow progress with Pressley given our circumstances, I craved some longevity and continuity. He deserved a new contract but to give anyone a 4 year one was poor decision making....another Waggott clanger.

The fact that this thread even exists says it all about Pressley.

I looked at the line ups in those first three draws. When you think at the same time negotiations had started to try and get DMC. I think that squad would do better that this squad as it stands.

Not with thorn in charge as ore match perpetration was always zero. I repeat, the Kidderminster debacle shows him to be one of the wiser managers in the history of the game.

Pressley is a manager in terns of the fundemental requirements but he lacks flexibility and tactical awareness regarding the opposition.
