Sure. I'd be willing to try Gregor Rioch, who has had considerable success with the academy, and managed and nurtured many of the young lads in the squad. He's already on the club payroll, so money shouldn't be an issue. Even Carsley if not Rioch.
You maybe correct but if you don't have a look at the possibility your writing a season off at December??? Wheres the fight gone we had under managers in days gone buy in the top flight???
In days gone by I could see players like McCallister, Hadji, Dublin, or going further back, Speedie, Bennett, and think at least we have players with ability, character and heart. Now I look and I don't see it. There's a bit of effort from Keogh & Juke, but not a lot else, and a team needs more than just effort.

I completely and wholeheartedly agree with that. When we were in the prem the players not only had bags of spirit but talent too. How I long for the days of even Leigh Jenkinson and Steve Morgan
PS Colonel, I apologise for short shrift last night, it was a stressful evening
This sentence in itself sums up how far we have fallen. Will the last person to leave The Ricoh please turn off the lights. Too late, SISU have already done it in an attempt at saving the last desperate penny.
The 'Thorn out / Thorn to stay' threads have indeed grown increasingly tiring on this board. The same arguments are regurgitated on each. Here is mine...
We are bottom of the League with a relatively poor squad, consisting of kids and underperforming players, with a tiny smattering of decent Championship players. Responsible for our current plight is, in the main, our incumbent board. It has long been evident that SISU are loathe to spend money on loanees, let alone sacking and paying off a (albeit poorly) paid manager, then paying a replacement. I do not believe they care enough about our plight to be seriously considering it, whether it is the right decision or not. Thorn has shown some tactical naivety on occasion, but it would have been more naive to assume there would be none shown from a rookie manager with a fairly poor playing squad. He was promoted from Chief Scout and initially did well (Thorn > Boothroyd everytime), but you cannot say that the promotion of Carsley or Rioch would be more successful. Coventry's history of sacking managers is embarrassing and has brought us precisely no success. Given the fact that Thorn has so little to work with from the board, at this moment in time, I think we should be giving him the season (and, quite possibly, beyond) and our support. Although this statement evidently sticks in the craw of many; relegation notwithstanding. I would not hold him responsible... that dubious honour would be reserved for SISU and, to a lesser but still significant extend, some of the underperforming experienced pros. Thorn will take the blame for tactical mistakes as I see them, but, for me, these do not cloud every single performance. The 'Thorn out' brigade, such as it is, seem to be sounding off about the demise of their club and the fact we are resigning ourselves to relegation without a whimper, as things stand. We are set to finish in the lowest ever position in my lifetime. I don't want that and don't want to go down (in case that needed saying). I'll still have a season ticket next season and will still be frustrated and delighted by players and coaching staff alike. But I want SISU out, I want to rebuild, I want hungry players and noisy fans. Not much of the above is likely at present, but I don't think sacking Thorn is some miracle cure. A takeover and re-evaluation of the state of the affairs of our football club is. My point (which always takes more words than strictly necessary to state) is thus...
Thorn is not a footballing messiah. He is a rookie manager and there are errors. The squad has been defined by SISU. Better and more experienced players are regularly not turning up. There are a combination of factors at work with our plight and it is churlish to rate them. But, if I must, the performance of Andy Thorn as manager is about third on my list. Hence my support for the manager of my football club.
PS - one mistake today and I am on him, though. Everyone out!
