Is up…

Lampard doesn’t rate him and he didn’t play at all during the play offs not even 5mins and can’t get on the pitch in a game like this.

He got some chances in the friendlies as he was rotating but when it comes to the league he doesn’t seem to trust him.

This saga needs to end as a bad purchase and we take what we can for him.

I really wanted it to work for him as I like most had high hopes with his potential.

Will be best for both parties as he clearly needs a different environment and we need better.

He made a statement Today. He isn’t that bad he can’t play 20 minutes. But today was a statement that you’re not going to play. Bye

I dunno. Could see him starting Vs Luton in the cup and then let's see how he does

If Lampard can’t get a tune out of an entire front line then perhaps the solution isn’t just shipping them out and replacing them but rather adapting the style of play to suit our actual squad.

It’s been obvious now for a good while that whatever we are doing isn’t producing enough goals from the frontline, and that isn’t going to change with at most one signing before the window closes.

Wonder if last years rumours are true regarding his next appearance will trigger another part of his transfer fee to Everton? Currently on 99 across all competitions, guess if he doesn’t start on Tuesday there might be something in it.

Tbf I could see Andrew's starting Vs Luton and he wasn't in the squad today.

What style of play suits the bountiful abilities of BTA and Simms?

He's got two seasons left on his contract hasn't he? If nobody wants to pay him what we're paying him we'll need to make a pay off.

What makes you think changing one of them for someone else will fundamentally change the systemic issues we have up front? Perhaps it is both a system and personnel issue but we can’t change enough of the personnel quickly enough to remove the need for a tactical change. It’s not like you can just pick a 20 goal a season striker up for fun.

Who do you realistically want to swap Simms for and how confident are you they would prosper with the same constraints?

I seen Simms leg it down the tunnel and not return with about 15 minutes to go. I think his days are up and I wish him well.
WE NEED A NEW STRIKER!!! .

The thing is, somebody needs to want to buy him and pay his wages.

The other scenario is someone takes him on loan and pays his full wages if we can’t sell or a loan with buy option

Was listening to the Second Tier Podcasts league predictions and while they both really don’t like Lampard they are both Derby fans and said that he has a bit of form for completely freezing players out.

Haha this style of play thing is nonsense.

He should thrive off how we play given the number of crosses we put in the box, but he doesn’t.

He’s not good enough to hold the ball up and link play. He doesn’t make good runs off the ball, his movement is non-existent. And he’s not a good striker of the ball either.

I’ve seen this argument a number of times but I’d like to hear a system that would suit him? Because I don’t think there is one, he’s just not good enough.

Haha. What about all of our other strikers? hes going to struggle to get on the end of crosses whilst sitting on the bench and watching them float over BTAs head.

Not one thing would have changed today had Simms played the full 90.

I agree with Lampards assessment. Simms must be a ridiculously frustrating player to work with. The problem is getting someone to take him.

Shame really because I always look back to how fucking brilliant he was against Wolves and Man United. There's a player there, but someone needs to work with him on a personal level. He's too laid back and not arsed.

If Lampard doesn’t have faith in him then it’s in everyone’s interest to sell him ASAP and bring in someone who wants to play in this system.

Hes a confidence player that needs game time. Hes not gonna just switch it on for 1 90 minute cameo in a cup game.
Id love to be proven wrong, but its just not happening.
Take the loss and free up the wages for another striker. Some signings will pay and we'll make a profit, others wont. You can't win them all.

Yeah I really don't like that if it's what he's doing. We need all of them and they all offer something, despite what some boo boys say. Mark Robins was the king of giving people unexpected comebacks and chances before dropping etc. A good manager wouldn't have a 'bomb squad', as it's a rather wasteful use of resources.

To add to this, personal opinion and I am obviously just another clueless fan, but Simms and Bassette would do a lot more than a half fit Haji. Makes no sense the striker selections at the moment

We're not a club with the sort of money where the manager can just decide he doesn't fancy £6m players and we'll let them see out their contract and get someone in the manager is prepared to work with.

Even the biggest Simms hater is not going to claim he's a player who will be kicking off in training and causing trouble so it's very unlikely there's an actual issue there.

With BTA’s January interest, I think he’d be easier to sell

We got 27 points out of 30 playing a system that we only used because of injury, food for thought?

This really. At this stage of his career he isn’t going to suddenly develop a deft first touch or the flair and passing range to put others in. It’s not OTT to suggest that 3 out of every 5 touches are breeze block feet or 50 pence headers to the oppo. What Is in his power is to be a battering ram type to bully defenders, make a bit of space and run on/at goal which is when he looks decent. Alas he doesn’t seem to have the fight to do that consistently and shrinks back into himself. I think it’s probably best for everyone if he moves on.

Simms was parked at the Casino, not the Players car park.
All of last season he was with the others.
Eccles also by the Casino, they both left around 1
hours after the game, separately but within a minute of each other.
Seemed a bit odd.
Eccles said he would be back training this week
