I have stayed off this forum, after being absolutely battered supporting Simms and Assante. Got total abuse. How are people feeling? Tomtrad43 ( from memory slaughtered me)..Any comments?

BTA is what he is , he can look scruffy in possession but works tirelessly and will score goals.
Simms has all the tools but needs to believe in himself , hopefully his last two cameos have shown him he can play a big part this season

Turning into a really good squad! Think the only sub tonight which lowered the quality was Jamie Allen! We’ve just moved forward and he’s not at the standard required or expected anymore.

Always stood up for BTA, definitely saw something in him. Really pleased for Simms to get his goal as well, but christ I'd be worried if he was our starting striker. I'd honestly rather recall Obikwu and give him a go instead.

You don't always need to be the most technically gifted to still be effective.

What did he do wrong ?
He pressed and tackled high up the pitch , dovetailed well with Grimes and set up the fourth goal . Personally thought he brought more calmness to the middle of the park

One thing to say about both of them, is that they both look a lot fitter.
Simms had a recurring problem with the bone in his toe last season, a very similar injury to that of EMC, which started very early on in the season. He played with injections when Wright was out and i don't believe he was ever fully fit.
BTA had a chronic problem and it eventually caught up with him and put him out for some time. Looking back, you could see he was struggling.

They both seem to have come back looking sharper. The whole team does to be honest, credit to the staff and to the team, they are all pushing each other and there is a great togetherness.

Said it at the start of the season - Wright, Simms and BTA are all capable of being good options up front for a Championship side. We are very fortunate in that department. The key is creating chances and we are doing that in spades right now.

Wow , didn't know that about their injuries . Kudos to both for playing through them .
Definitely seeing BTA at his best this season and starting to see Simms gain confidence too .
Both will be vital this season if we want automatic promotion

Yeah credit to both of them, Eccles too who played with a knee problem for a while.
The start to the season will help massively as the confidence of the whole team is up.
Long may it continue, a welcome addition or two in January and there may be less panicking about depth + squad capability.

Why even say that? Clearly a squad player and never lets us down. What exactly did he do that warrants singling out?

I thought he was very good tonight, came on when we were under the pump and settled us down .
He is and always has been a more than adequate Championship level player

Yes my reading of the game too. Seriously feels like people just get bored of players. Bit like those who thought we were 'past' Eccles.

Allen is a great squad player, he's not moaning about the place when his game time is restricted. He is always full of energy and brings a bit of maturity that is a calming influence.

Far too many people being uncharitable to Simms and BTA. Any rumours about us lining up moves up for Jan?

I asked him when we played Brum, he said they had already had agent contact about a winger, no other whispers yet.

Well maybe not but there are such things as context clues! He never looks like he's sulking he seems happy and part of the squad. His deal was extended, can't remember if that was just triggered or not but it to me it feels like he knows the role he has to play.

I’d be happy if we get Raj-Sakai (Palace) over the line as rumoured on deadline day. My “optimistic” hope is that we go for someone with real ‘X-factor’, in a similar vain to when Burnley signed Edwards last Jan.

Depending on Rudoni’s situation too may dictate if we go for a AM. I think Oggy mentioned on CWR tha he’d heard his shoulder is in a bad state and seemed to imply surgery is a possibility!

Except he provided the pass out wide for the lead up to the 3rd or 4th.

Did Rak-Sakyi end up going on loan somewhere?

Haven't heard anything about the severity of Rudi's shoulder injury, only that he was playing with it heavily strapped every game. We were saying last game that it seems as though he may go down a similar road to Bellingham who ended up having to have the surgery after playing so long with the strapping on. Could well be the case.

I'm expecting his signing an extension to his contract a bit premature but probably necessary?

I missed that, the Turkish transfer window was open slightly longer than ours, isn’t it?

It’ll be a huge loss if Rudoni needs surgery and immediately changes the recruitment priorities. Eccles has fitted in well these last 2 games but it’s an obvious downgrade on goals and assists. Eccles himself is also managing his workload because he’s not 100% yet. Lampard mentioned post-match tonight that it was good to have the option to sub Eccles out tonight for that reason.

As an eternal optimist, it pains me to say that without proactive recruitment in Jan, injuries could derail our season down the line.
