When does it normally start?

We’ve got McFadzean in insanely early, last year we were late because of playoffs, league two I can’t remember, the year before that Mowbray waited forever. My internal calendar is all off.

The year before last summer, we signed a load of players quite early from what I recall. McNulty signed on 18th May. Kelly on 22nd May. Doyle on 11th May.

Robins does appear to plan for the transfer window way in advance, unlike Mowbray who waited til we got there.

2017: We got Doyle in very early on May 11th. McNulty on May 18th, Rod McDonald May 19th and Kelly wasn't far behind either on May 22nd, Liam O'Brien and Dom Hyam on 24th May. Vincenti was 21st June, Biamou 27th June, Grimmer 5th July but Andreu and Davies were early-mid August. All the ones prior to 1st July are not registered until then.
2018: Brown 6th June, Clarke-Harris 13th June, Ogogo 26th June, Sterling loan 27th June, Mason 6th July, Hiwula 2nd August, Baka 7th August, Thomas loan 16th August, Chaplin 30th August

Doubt there'll be such a long delay this year as we know what division we're in.
In 2017 I think the George Thomas saga affected the Andreu signing and I think Willis got an injury which was feared worse than it was which prompted the Davies signing.
2018 our forwards were all signed late. Hiwula and Baka both thrown in immediately after signing.

Our squad for the 1st match of next season will be vastly different to the loss to Scunthorpe:

Liam O'Brien - Gone
Dujon Sterling - Returned to parent club
Brandon Mason
Jordan Willis - Expected Gone
Dominic Hyam
Abu Ogogo - Gone
Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila
Michael Doyle (C) - Gone
Tony Andreu - Gone
Tom Bayliss
Maxime Biamou
- Long term Injury

Substitutes
Corey Addai
Junior Brown

Jack Grimmer - Gone
Jordon Thompson - 6th choice now?
Jordan Shipley
Jonson Clarke-Harris - Gione
Jordan Ponticelli

Robbins is no mug when it comes to getting players and i don't want to see them on here before they are signed as some other turkey shoot will be looking then s this is where it all comes out not the Sky Transfer centre

Agreed. It's shocking how many other clubs do no scouting themselves and just read SBT to decide who they want to sign.

Thomas I could see, but Chelsea will definitely want Sterling to have a go in the Championship next year.

Loan: Chris McCann - 2nd August 2016
SEASON STARTS - 6th August 2016
Loan: Lewis Page - 9th August 2016
Loan: Dan Agyei - 18 August 2016
Loan: Jack McBean -19 August 2016

Jordan Turnbull - 19th August 2016
Gael Bigirimana - 26th August 2016
Loan: Jamie Sterry - 31st August 2016

I prefer Hiwula.

I can't see Sordell playing much league football any more, sadly as he seems a decent bloke.

I rated him. He was the only attacker we had capable of producing anything. And we swapped him for beavon...

To be fair, he was a good signing until he was shunted out to the wing and sold within 6 months to be replaced by goal machine Beavon.

It wasn't even really the wing like Hiwula players, it was straight up left midfield.

As fans we can be guilty of assuming we know more than the experts at times. But I can confidently say I know far more about recruitment at League One level and below than Tony Mowbray. Many say Slade's poor recruitment in the January window that season was the final nail in the coffin in guaranteeing our relegation but it was Mowbray's lack of knowledge and snobbery of the lower leagues that truly cost us.

Mowbray was buzzing about his three up front as well and how he had the perfect players for it. Fucking hell.

I still can't understand what TM saw in Turnbull, one of the worst centre halves I've ever seen play for us. His decision to bin off Aaron Martin as well, by no means a world-beater but someone who had improved and was a competent league 1 defender at the time, made it even more baffling as he would have given us some cover and a bit more experience.

He was a regular starter in Swindon's top 6 push in League One during their 2014-15 season where they finished 4th. However, he was partnered beside Jack Stephens the entire campaign who made Turnbull look far better than he actually was. Joins a long line of 'Premier League talent duds' brought in by Mowbray who showcased yet again his lack of experience at League One level alongside his inability to scout properly

He was garbage and only came here as there was no other offers on the table and he would have been stacking shelves in Tesco-he said this himself.
Went down with Burton too which is all the proof needed really-not forgetting that he also had his off field issues to contend with to be fair.

If he would have stayed longer than 2 hours he’d have got a ticket!
