So it seems that the investors are looking to plough large amounts of money into CCFC, it sounds like very exciting times ahead of this comes off. If Hoffman pulls this coup off, it will be an absolute master stroke!! Especially if he has guided them away from Everton to us. :welcome:

I wouldn't invest in Everton either (I know I'm biased). They are not going to compete with the big boys but will expect major finance injected with little chance of reward or success. I guess financially its probably less of a risk as they are unlikely to get relegated, but equally difficult to make a return which as non-fans they would be looking for.

On the other hand a Championship team that gets promoted and reaps Premiership rewards could be wotrh a gamble, with lower excpectations once they arrive in the top flight. However, I woudln't be looking at one that has large debt, no ground ownership or indeed any real assets and one that is traditionally a low achiever with a disgruntled and scarce fan-base.

Still there is always hope

Loving the wordsmith in you mate, I will ensure to get that in somewhere in the workplace today. It's not 'bouncebackability' but still very good

No ground ownership & being a low achiever didn't stop the Arabs taking over Manchester City and pumping multi-millions in. And they don't have the option of buying even half of the ground.
I may be pretty biased, but if if I was that loaded, I'd invest in a club like City just for the excitement of getting them up to the Premiership & making a success of that. There's little point (in my view) to taking over a club with all the advantages (Chelsea, Liverpool, Manure) - but transforming a smaller club into a big one is something that would give me a real sense of achievement.
Let's just hope Gary Hoffman's investors feel the same!

Hope your right mate although it kind of grates a bit that this is what it takes to be a sucessfull team. Mind you spose its better that debt and the threat of admin always round the corner.

I have always thought that our trump card is the Ricoh.I know we don't own it but if they get that back and put in a train station then it will be a little gold mine.
Cov and the Ricoh could hardly be positioned better, its central has got good road links, everything is a plus point. They have concerts etc already but if we owned it and have a proper team to promote it, then most big bands at home and internationally would choose it as a venue, you could hardly choose a better location. The train station must be completed to totally realise its potential, just thinking how many more away fans would make the trip if all they had to do is get on a train, get off a train, have a drink in the bars, watch the match, and get back on the train you got off earlier. It sounds too good to be true.
Even the national side may pick Cov if they were playing a lesser nation.Conferences both political/unions and work generally and what about exibitions, and game & tool fayres will all bring in money to the coffers.
Then there is getting the skyblues into the Prem and all the financial awards that offers.
Good times await if managed properly

Is it possible that Hoff and his chinky pals buy the Ricoh without owning the Club? They may then have a stronger hand in forcing :blue:? I don't see why this isn't a possibility tbh?

I think the two would need to go hand in hand otherwise chances are whoever invests unless they pump millions upon millions in they will never get significat return on thier money, unless they do what the current non seeing fools do and sell players year on year.

Wtf is your problem? Jesus if we're "doomed to failure" then why turn up...
I seem to remember Man City being below Coventry City for a while... they aren't doing so badly now...

The difference is Man City had a stadium and an average support of 30k per week when they were at Maine Road, we don't have that as you well know.

It doesn't take a genius to see why someone would choose Man City / Everton or anyone else ahead of CCFC.

Will somebody answer TheSnoz's question please. Where do Everton come into all this?

It's all rumour but the Chinese businessmen allegedly showed an interest in investing in Everton until the Hoffs intervention.

So where did it come from? I read this and GMK regular and this was the first I read of it.

Just curious, that's all.

Have read it a few times and found another mention of the Everton connection here (probably totally unfounded but that's the rumour)

Like the get shitsu out banner, but the idea sounds good but the Higgs trust & or council will never sell a share of the stadium to a private company that does not own CCFC
