5 months and 14 days since the below article was written in the telegraph and SP was given a new 4 year contract - I think short memories is a key word here

“He has, quite rightly, become extremely popular with our supporters since taking over as manager. He has faced adversity head-on and, considering the circumstances, did a wonderful job in keeping the club in League One last season.
“His passion, drive and commitment to Coventry City has been clear for all to see over the past year-and-a-half and that really manifested itself at the first game back at the Ricoh Arena.
“We believe the length of contract underlines both his desire to see the job through he has started and also our belief that we have one of the best young managers around.”

I think that's a true statement for most of his time as CCFC manager. Don't think he's always had haters but records speak for themselves and this season, it's always been a bad one

Not necessarily short memories but perhaps a lot of people were overwhelmed and caught up in the hysteria with the Ricoh return, including the owners. In hindsight he didn't actually achieve very much during his tenure even when times were 'good'.

You don't pick an opinion and resolutely stick to it. If we'd won on Saturday and it launched an incredible run of winning form it wouldn't have made the people calling him crap last week suddenly wrong, as he was crap last week. When he was a favourite, it was because he was giving people a reason to like him.
