needs resting for a while and coaching how to tackle I feel.

Had a good run but lately he seems too lightweight, always pulls out of tackles and started to stop going past people too now.

Delivers a good dead ball still, but needs to toughen up and realise you have to fight for it on this league... unless you have the skill of say Jodi jones/ Jacob Murphy or even Reid when he comes on ( then you can get away with one a bit more )

Really frustarating now the amount of 50/50 balls he just pulls out of

The same could be said for Haynes. Bottles every challenge he goes into.

Reid is crying out for a start, always seems to be a quality ball coming into the box from him...

Not sure he is same player from start though.. think they got it right on cwr when they said that reId is best used as second half sub when defenders are tired and he is keen as mustard coming on

Did he not have a knock recently .
Might be trying to look after himself ?
It's quite handy having Kyle as an impact sub .
Any alternatives?

Was very good away at Mansfield and got a couple of set piece assists against Grimsby. But crewe away he bottled every tackle. The Reid conundrum... Is he effective from the start? I think Monday we will find out

I am not convinced.

Much better option from off the bench I think .

Of course if Reid starts and we get an early lead then it's ok. If we are chasing a goal with 25 mins to go, is Shipley gonna come on and supply it? I'd like to think that josh Barrett guy is going to come on and do something. Otherwise why he is on the bench

As a natural centre midfielder Shipley is a defensive winger, plays narrow and is useful for keeping it tight from the off, a tactic Robins has been fond of all season. He is good protection for Haynes. Think it needs a decision on a game by game basis from now on in. Yeovil have just won their last away game and had a rest on Friday. I would want to hit them from the off at home and not let their confidence grow further by keeping it tight for a half. Who will worry them and put them on the back foot? Reid to start this one for me.

Can you have a defensive mid fielder who by common consent does not tackle?

Agreed. Also, who would be more likely to make an impact off the bench against tiring defenders? Reid or Shipley?

Reid, by the sounds of it (I personally weren’t convinced against Luton, the last game I went to), has put in some good cameos of late. But, he probably needs to get a couple more assists/goals before considering him as a starter.

I would start with Reid on Monday as he has looked sharp when coming on in the last few games. I felt he changed the game yesterday. We need to beat Yeovil obviously so I would go with a team that can get at them.No disrespect to Shipley but Reid is a natural wide player and he is not.

Have to say despite the post - none of our boys can deliver a corner like he can - a low rising fast ball

He CAN do that and I do rate him, but he also floats too many in and the defence can find it easy to clear when he does so.

He probably can - but can he do 90 mins - no doubt his impact has been really good over the last few games

Our form has steadily improved since Shipley has established himself in the team, big fella and has a great left peg some on here don’t half speak some drivel.

Has a great left peg, pretty much agreed... bottles every single tackle, pretty much agreed

To suggest our upturn in form is down to Shipley is wide if the mark in my opinion. Played as many games we lost as won I’d say. The upturn in form is more likely credited to Doyle coming back , McNulty banging them in, JCH arrival and great link up with McNulty & Tom Bayliss establishing himself as a proper talent... not Jordan Shipley “establishing” himself in the side!

Bayliss and JCH I would say.

Those two changes changed our fortunes.

Also the 1-1 draw away to Mansfield when we went down to 10 men, galvanised the team also.

This is his first season in men's football, I'd say he's been more than adequate. Young player of the season if it wasn't for Bayliss being absolutely phenomenal.

Reid should start on Monday as it’s a home game, Shipley should be on the bench in case we need to shure things up. I think Haynes should sit this one out too, if Reid plays we don’t need a marording left back.

Due to the lack of quality coaches at the u18,u23’s and the constant changing at that level over the last two years there’s not much ‘quality’ coaching happening at that level I’m afraid. Shipley mayy improve over time now he is in the first team picture. Any progression of the young players etc (Baylis etc) was/is due to excellent raw talent not quality coaching they received.

I think the youngster is carrying an injury which seasoned pro's know how to manage but he is still learning his craft. I think he needs a game off rest to help him

‘featured in’ isn’t what I said.. I said won ... so from those games how many did we draw & win , and how many did he play most the match or come on a sub.

Anyway all that aside, I followed up specifically with the general point I was trying to make... which was related to the previous posters comment about Shipley’s run in the side contributing to our upturn in results... which I don’t agree with , I named the players who I felt that could apply to

You said he’d played in as many games lost as won. I was merely pointing out your inaccuracies

Won 12 lost 7

This is the fourth time now you’ve had a ‘pop’ at Jason Farndon. I’m guessing you’ve had a run in with him or have heard things about his methods which you don’t like? Not too sure.

Bayliss didn’t have excellent raw talent at all. At 16 he was nearly not given a scholar by the club. He wasn’t one of the best in his age group. Being in full time improved his game massively.

Another thing I’ll say is that every player who has moved on from the club to bigger and better things has praised Farndon (amongst others) for helping them to develop

Not sure a mic would help much to be honest.

Of course if you wanted to shore things up instead, you might want Shipley on the beach instead of on the bench.
