I wonder how big the injury is?
He had a good game against Swansea which we could have won but oh well.

I am wondering if it was the after effects of the clash of heads in the first half? Probably wrong but to me he looked like he was feeling ill, rather than injured.

Robins said concussion and he needs to go to hospital for scans. He said he would probably be out for a while.

He's very dangerous on the edge of the area. If sheafs weird side foot pass attempt had fallen to Shipley I'm fairly confident that would have gone in.

FFS Sheaf scuffed a shot, it happens. He’s shown repeatedly he’s got a good shot from range. His free kick late on was excellent.

Agreed, Sheaf was good going forward and his shooting generally seems ok, he just couldn't get it out of his feet on that one. Shippers hit his well with perhaps a slice of luck....

Concussion needs careful monitoring he will out for a few weeks I suspect.

Shipley has stepped up well this season. Especially as he was forced to play out of position for a few games.

He is a real team player, has a good eye for a pass and not afraid to take a shot on.

Not having a replay didn't help but my initial thought was he got caught between two minds of shooting or choosing to play Shipley in down the left and ended up doing neither and it looked terrible. It happens. It's happened to much better players than Sheaf and will do again. As you've said even if it was just a shit shot, it's one shit shot. He was perfectly decent yesterday.

He was just caught between two minds.

It's clearly obvious that Sheaf is growing game by game and just needs to get on the same wavelength as the established squad from last year.

Once again some of our fans have found a new boo boy within a few games.

Didn't really read that as overly critical of Sheaf to be honest, more praise for how good Shipley is in those areas.
They both played well.

I was surprised Shippers didn't take the shot on when he was in a good position on the edge of the box but found Godden. It was actually a decent ball to Godden, but having scored one I thought he'd have taken a pop.

Mate chill out. I was bigging up shippers shooting that's all. If I hares chances had fallen to mcfadz I'd say he'd score, doesn't mean I want him up front

I thought this at the time. The challenge on him was pretty awful, and I was a little surprised how little was made of it at the time. The Swansea player recklessly led with his forearm giving Shipley a right whack. Think there are determined rest times for players coming off for concussion so its a shame for Shipley that this happened, having made his first significant impact on a game this season.

Sorry to disagree but although Shipley had a decent game last night to say he has stepped up is wrong. He has been average at best. Take the “he is one of our own” glasses off.

he was played out of position in his first couple of appearances.
He was pushed further forward last night and made a much better contribution.

Shipley is not a DM. Even more so than Allen. He’s at his best playing off Godden.

I thought there were a few cynical, deliberate challenges early on. Nothing seemed to be said, so I thought I must’ve had my fans head on, but without a replay it was hard to say.

As much as it’s incredibly frustrating when players look for the free kick, or to get another player in the book — we have to accept that this is what other teams will do to us and we have to be a bit smarter dealing with it (or doing it back). Shipley basically took a free-hit and nobody even seemed to point it out to the ref.

Just seen the goal, I’ve thought he’s looked out of his depth so far this season when I’ve seen him play, but that was a championship finish so I’ll take my hat off to him for that.

Shipley has proven people wrong by stepping in each of his 3 seasons with the 1st team. Hopefully he can do so again. For now though, I think he's a useful squad player that is great to throw on if we need a goal with 20 mins to go.

I think playing out of position early on at a higher level was a big ask of a young player. He actually did ok and not as bad as some fans made out.

I haven't got "he is one of kur own glasses on." I say it as I see it, just like I have defended Sheaf, Hamer, Rose and Hyam. In fact I haven't moaned about any of our players this season.

Perhaps you should take off your "judge everyone like they should be Premier League standard and the finished article at 18 because Rooney was glasses."

Will take time. He's progressed every season. It's little things like when o hare feeds the ball into him low and he tries a little flick that league 1 works, championship it's easy. If he's gonna try it make sure it works

Good point, things that worked in League One will be snuffed out more easily in the Championship. But it is a fine balance. You still need players to be brave enough to try things and not be detered. Otherwise you end up with a team playing safe negative passes and everyone is scared to shoot.

If a player is trying to be positive and what they try fails due to good defending; I personally can forgive that. Because next time they might actually unlock a defence and we score.

I expect Robins will be far far happier with a player that keeps trying things that don’t quite come off than someone who constantly plays it safe.

He has the odd game every now and then where he looks like a competition winner and can't make a 5 yard pass, but there's no doubt he offers a goal threat with that left foot and also seems to have a good understanding with Godden. He's not going to play every game but he will have a lot to offer this season.

fingers crossed for him! hope no hairline frature is revealed as we could lose him for 6 weeks! He is just starting to mature as a good players and just needs to get some bite in his game to become an excellent player.

Not quite sure where the link to Rooney and the Premier League come into this. I make judgements on what I see on the pitch, irrespective of whether a guy loves the shirt.

Also I don't quite understand how playing out of position impacts a professional players inability to tackle and not get tired after 60 mins

I am not moaning about any of our players, Shipley can score a goal as proven and has decent link up with Godden, but for every good thing he does equally he doesn't trap a simple ball and misplaces easy passes. The latter will determine whether he makes it at this level or not.

I hope he steps up to the challenge, but for me so far he has been average, along with a few others.

It will take time to adjust...lets see.
