I’m a big fan of Shipley and think he will have something to offer this season. But he was miles off the pace first half. Looked nervous, gave the ball away almost Everytime. Absolutely the correct call to get him off.
There is no correlation between the two events Rupert. We were extremely fortunate to go in level at half time and they soon turned their dominance into goals.
Shipley needs time to see if he’ll adapt at this level. He’s started 3 of his 4 seasons as a pro behind the curve and developed his strengths to be an effective player in L2 and L1. What he hasn’t done is develop his weaknesses, tackling, speed and consistent passing accuracy, so Champ maybe a division too high for him. That said, I found it a very odd decision to finally start him in his best position against Bournemouth. They are so quick and their tempo is awesome. He was always on for a hiding to nothing.
He needs to do a bit of work on his right foot as well, he's very one dimensional. There was a moment in the first half where he'd got himself into a decent position and had an attacker ahead of him, he needed to try and play him in right footed but just couldn't do it so played it behind the player and it was lost.
