What I'm alluding to is that what you say in your social group of like minded people is different to positing something on a public forum for all to read including those who might be directly affected.

It's so unlike you to disagree with me and pull my posts apart. Shocked.

Well it's so easy to pull them apart as they're riddled with inconsistency.

I mean you're happy to joke about a serial rapist who imprisons his daughter for years in a cellar, but a cancer sufferer is too far. How ridiculous. You're either just doing that to be awkward, or you just want to argue with someone for the hell of it because nobody could be that dense.

Nope wrong again. I've said private is different to public. I'm sure you get that but as always being deliberately obtuse... or perhaps you really are that 'dense'

We're on very dodgy ground here.

I mean one of those Wednesday idiots did nothing more than laugh at his stupid mate. Where does this end?

I think just a banning would suffice. Like you say, it could be opening a tin of worms.

I find both offensive, the Bradley Lowery taunt and the Philpott thing, but common sense needs to be applied.

Nope, you made an explicit contrast between Friwell(?) or Shipman, and Bradley or the Philpotts. You then added public.

"I agree, I'd joke too on Fritwell or Shipman. But Bradley or the philpotts and to do it publicly is a different level. "

I repeat, you made an explicit contrast between the two and now you're too proud to accept that, maybe, you're just looking a bit of a tit and backing down gracefully. tbf I'd expect little else.

Interestingly there’s been no statement from Plymouth (unless I’ve missed it) and no mention of a banning order in the article

Ffs please put me on ignore. I never reply to your posts unless you quote mine. We never agree on any subject and that pleases me, but I'd rather we simply didn't engage.

No back tracking here. I said even in the post you are quoting that what we say privately and publicly can be different. I stand by that.

Apparently this is OK on the Death List thread though? I mean... isn't the line just being drawn on what *you* find funny? Isn't this quite a low for the forum? And no I didn't respond at the time and demand it was appalling, despite the fact I find it in appalling bad taste, and mocking many who have suffered mental health issues.

Huw Edwards 20-year battle with his mental health

Edwards (pictured as a boy with his father), who is accused of paying a teenager £35,000 in return for explicit photographs, said his depression left him unable to get out of bed.

But this is a puboic forum. What you say in private is fine, but why do you expect not to be challenged?

A jopke about mental health and mocking the fact they might die? it's sick and appalling... but not to you apparently. You can say what you want, but others can't?

That's where we're at, isn't it?

Oh, and I remembered it, didn't have to search for it hard as it stuck out, it stuck out, and it affected. But I didn't feel the need to call out a new low for attention.

I don't think there is any definitive answer really is there and I think timing can be crucial too.

I remember the Lord Mountbatten joke back in the 70's and I also remember actually telling that joke, but I didn't tell it at the time, straight after it happened. So that is a major factor. Some jokes can therefore be a lot less offensive over time and once the dust has settled

I get the point of being free to tell a joke, but in the Bradley Lowery incident, that doesn't seem to be a joke at all. Just done to mock, offend and wind opposition fans up.

I don't like jokes about kids with cancer for sure anyway and think I would always find that offensive, but I get that we are all different.

For me, I can clearly see the Philpott one as a joke, but hate the fact the subject matter is kids being burnt to death. The Sheff Weds one just seems intent on mocking only.

As I say, there is no definitive answer. You can't lock people up though. That's dodgy ground for sure.

Me too, my suggestion that they may have been involved in her disappearance or even death was not well received at work.

I do remember actually making up my own joke right after the Lady Diana death. I think that's the only time I have said something intended to be funny, where I knew it might well seem inappropriate.

The news story was breaking following the crash in the tunnel in France and on ITV News, at first they were saying they believed that Dodi Al Fayed was dead, but that Diana had survived.

It was at that point that I decided to write my own Sun headline for the next morning, which was..... Di's Dodi Dead as a Dodo.

I mean hell, I even did an offensive jokes that we used to say thread. Time makes them softer, but they're just as bad at the time... yet child-me was quite happy to say them(!) My mate Rob totally missed the point of it though. tbf he doesn't need an excuse to make an offensive joke in public himself.

There's a case in point on the Mccann story, because at the time I was really distraught over the disappearance and found the whole thing depressing and saddening and if anyone had made a joke right at that time, I wouldn't have liked that or found it funny at all.

I think if someone told a McCann joke now though, I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

What was the Grendel joke?

I once went to a "Bad-taste Ball" whilst at polytechnic....

I didn't go in full offensive costume like some....but I did wear a t-shirt with the face of Peter Sutcliffe & the tag-line "lets get hammered"
