Looks like the Sheffield fans are organising an on the pitch protest when we play them due to it being on Sky. (looks like its only on sky+)

As a club who has been through it all with owners. I have sympathy. If the EFL can give us the 3 points mind you that would be great.

Is it still a 3-0 win awarded for stuff like this? I'll take it although i'd rather watch us stuff them.

FA and League Rules on Match Abandonment

1. Neutral Causes (e.g. weather, power failure)

If a match is abandoned due to reasons outside the control of both teams, such as:

  • Severe weather
  • Floodlight failure
  • Medical emergencies
  • Crowd trouble not caused by either club

Then, according to FA Standard Code of Rules 20(E)(iii):

  • The match must be replayed in full on a new date agreed by both clubs and approved by the league. [Know the R...andonments]

However, the league's management committee may also decide to:

  • Let the score at the time of abandonment stand, if it benefits the competition and is fair to both clubs. [Know the R...andonments]

2. Misconduct by One or Both Teams

If the abandonment is due to the conduct of one team, such as:

  • Players refusing to continue
  • Fans invading the pitch
  • Team walking off in protest

Then under Rule 20(E)(iv):

  • The opposing team is awarded the points.
  • The match is not replayed. [Know the R...andonments]

If both teams are at fault:

  • No points are awarded to either side.
  • The match is not replayed. [Know the R...andonments]

Referee's Role

The referee has the authority to abandon a match for:

  • Safety concerns
  • Rule infringements
  • Outside interference (e.g. crowd trouble, pitch invasion)

But only the competition authority (e.g. FA, Premier League, EFL) can decide:

  • Whether the match is replayed
  • Whether the score stands
  • Whether points are awarded or withheld [What happe...- Lexology]

Real-World Example

In 2015, a Championship match between Blackpool and Huddersfield Town was abandoned due to a pitch invasion. The Football League:

  • Did not replay the match
  • Declared the result as 0–0, the score at the time of abandonment
  • Charged Blackpool for failing to fulfil the fixture [What happe...- Lexology]

Summary of Points Allocation

Cause of AbandonmentReplay?Points Awarded
Neutral (e.g. weather)Usually yesNone until replay
One team at faultNoOpponent gets points
Both teams at faultNoNo points to either
League discretionSometimes score standsAs per scoreline

It's all well and good saying it could be a 3 nil win, but who is going to score the goals?

Joking aside I hope we’d support their action. We know exactly how it feels to have owners that don’t give a fuck. Theirs is actively just destroying them

I would give them to Simms and then he will already have his season total of 3 in the bag.

If it’s possible we should probably put an all white XI out with those scumbags on the pitch

Won’t their club simply stick loads more police in the ground. I can’t imagine stewards will stop them to be fair. And potentially would they all get banning orders ?? maybe they think it’s time to step things up.

It's a difficult one.

There was respect between the two clubs after the death of their supporters on the way home from a match.

In recent years, Wednesday fans have been dreadful. I've never cringed as much as hearing Palmer getting booed a week after being racially abused. It was embarrassing from them.

However, plenty of our fans were furious with Sheffield United fans for the way they responded to our protests with the pitch invasions. It's a little hypocritical if we do the same. Although I stand by our situation at the time was far worse than anything Wednesday are facing.

This is exactly what will happen. A handful will get on and the club will threaten major banning orders. Their owner will have no problem dishing them out. Fisher and Joy didn't really care when our fans invaded the pitch.

They used to have my support as the better of the 2 sheffield teams but over the last couple of years they are both as bad. After the league game last year there was a lot of trouble with them looking for City supporters walking away from the ground.
They have gone down massively in my estimation over the last couple of years.

Provided we get the points and no players get hurt they can have at it. Not a smart move declaring it in advance though

So you want a realistic down-to-Earth protest....that's completely off the wall and swarming with overt racism?

Awful fanbase, encountered them inside and outside the ground in recent years and don't have a single good thing to say about them. Nobody really helped us and I'd be quite happy to see them with points deductions rolling down the leagues.

What happens with our fans if abandoned? Do we get our money back? Be pissed off travelling there, wasting a small fortune and giving up my weekend, only to watch them act like dicks on the pitch.

Why not? All our protests were declared in advance. If people dont know a protest is happening, how are you meant to get people joining the protest?
