Are we likely to lose our three points if they go under ?

English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday file for administration

The Owls, one of the oldest surviving clubs in world football, face a 12-point deduction.

If liquidated during the season, yes.

Assuming that it's just a regular administration then they'll be docked points.

They won’t go under. It’s tough, but should be positive news in terms of getting rid of DC.

long way back now from relegation, hopefully all points deductions done this season.

key know finding buyer.

Given that the club is in administration, assuming it survives there will be a new owner.
We have experience of the “old owner” becoming the new owner.
Question is, can the FL reject the new owner under the fit and proper persons test, even if they were previously the old owner?

Sounds like the way they will get rid of the dodgy owner and accept the relegation as a consequence

BBC article said there were multiple interested buyers, I’d be surprised if they don’t get saved. HMRC bill is only £1m.

The problem they have is that what we would class as an unfit owner and what the law would are two very different things. They can't really bar someone from ownership just because they've done an appalling job previously.

Administrators are from Begbies Traynor Group, who Paul Appleton now works for...small world eh.
He doesn't appear to be working on this job though.

There's little or no chance for them to stay up now. Probably means harder to sell the club. And club is straight away worth alot less in league 1.

Done the same mate, snide Burberry off D H Gate.
Though I'm not really sure how it will help.

John Textor, serial club buyer, is one of the interested buyers.
He almost destroyed Olympique Lyonnais (massive debts that almost got them relegated), and got Palace demoted to the Europa League.
Sounds like someone who should be ruled out of buying a distressed club.

Still think Ashley will swoop in and has had eyes on it for a while, hence cutting ties with The CBS out of the blue

Now it is in admin, could be the perfect time

I'm selling Chanshinos outside the ground from 11 tomorrow. Only available in striped blue and white or salmon pink.

I would say the one single crucial team to survive out of all the leagues is Wycombe Wanderers.

Saying that though, we now probably won't play them for another 10 years.

Hope they get new owners, but don't forget we went into admin and then they let SISU have it back again as the preferred bidder. Presumably he gets first refusal, buries the debts and continues being a twat. At this point I can't see what's in it for him, but he is an egotistical narcissist.

In old school it was they need to get to 23 games for the first half to stand having played everyone once and luck of the draw of home v away, Up to that point I think cancelled. Similarly if they get to 30 games then they're either cancelled back to 23 or remaining fixtures get a 3-0 win. Stuff like this changes though and I'm a bit of a dinosaur so probably some rules on the EFL website would confirm.

Yep I'm wrong and we woudl lose points:

EFL regulations state that if this happens during the regular season the club's 'playing record shall be expunged', meaning their results up to that point would be removed from the record.

They will get to finish the season by hook or crook. Clubs of this size do not simply fold and disappear, there's always a white knight eventually.

Mike Ashley perhaps? Kind of fits his model of buying at the bottom. They'll surely get relegated, but a new ownership group with the stadium intact and can't buy players but will sell many season tickets and it could suit them in L1. May come back stronger.

Yep they'll just want to get through it and start fresh in league one. I guess the small blessing is its not a transfer window otherwise they would be forced to sell up anyone and everyone for peanuts wouldn't they? Not that there's much left i must admit but there's the bones of a half decent league one team at least.
