Interesting stats going into this:

Sheff W have the league’s highest goals conceded (17) and xG conceded (17.07) from set pieces.

CCFC the most goals scored from headers in the league (11) and the second highest xG from set pieces (12.57).

Lump it in the box chaps

If not then I’d go 532

They’ve got a game tonight against Swansea. Hopefully they lose that and that 1 extra day rest helps us. Hopefully some red cards and more injuries.

They only have one for CB at the moment and missing Barry time to shave it off.

If EMC is ready to start then 4-3-3 will be back. I’d also put Allen in to have that running and energy in midfield. Torp looked tired yesterday .

Dovin
MVE Thomas Kitching Bidwell
Allen Grimes Rudoni
Tatsu Simms EMC

I think somebody said that Bannon is out so we will win comfortably. 5-0.

Doesn’t sound like EMC is ready to start yet but probably will be fine for half an hour or so.

If chasing a goal on 70 get Bidwell and EMC on and move to a back 4

Looking forward to this. First away game since Portsmouth due to my insistence we take January off travelling around. Could get a win here, especially is Bannon is missing.

Would be very surprised if we started 4-3-3. Keep it tight until 70 and bring on EMC for a centre half if we have to.

Kitching

Grimes
Rudoni
Bidwell

Asante

Has there been an update on how those additional tickets are selling ? It would be good to fill the away end Saturday

Pretty much all gone I think, Lower block 6 (on end) and half of 5 left I believe - so going to be circa 3500-3800!

My concern with 1 up top is Simms just doesnt look as useful. He struck up nice partnership with BTA as frustrating as they both are.

Deffo rest torp for this - Allen and hopefully Bidwell

I don’t see 433 as one up top. I don’t like 541/451 as the midfield tends to compress and isolate the striker but 433 you get people up and around him. I trust EMC to do that far more than Sakamoto or Rudoni.

I really fancy us for this. Bannon is key for them so with him missing is a bonus

Agreed, the end point will be 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 for the things you outline.

5-3-2 is the way to go for the next game, imo. BTA was probably rested because he’d have played 3 games in 6 days. EMC will be an ace from the bench for the next 2-3 weeks as he gets his match fitness back up.

I don’t mind playing 5-4-1 when we’re holding on to the lead but as an attacking shape, we struggled to move the ball through the lines.

Simms played well yesterday, he got in behind the defence and put in a couple of good balls in the box. Unfortunately, no one was following up in the box which is what you’d expect if we had EMC, Wright and Rudoni playing as an AM.

Bannons a big loss for them.

Drawn their last 3 at home against Luton, Millwall and Bristol City so hopefully we can squeeze a win out of this one and be top 6 by the end of Saturday.

I think I'd start with the same side but bring in Eccles for Torp.

When everyone is fit out squad is much better suited 433/4231 but with the injuries I think 532 gives us the best chance at a result here

If I hadn’t made it absolutely clear already, I’ve really grown to hate this lot we’re playing

I don’t just want to beat them, I want to humiliate them, no less than 5-0 is acceptable in my eyes

Or start with that side then immediately sub Torp off

Away game so I'd go for a slightly more defensive CM instead of Torp - either Allen or Eccles. EMC to come off the bench again as worried we may ask too much of him too soon.
