We were in that end for the 87 Quarter Final - and it was rammed.

I was held up by a Motorway accident so arrived at the ground at about 10 past 3. I ran into the central section but realised how packed it was and turned around and made my way to the marginally less full side.

If there had been people behind me (as happened two years later), I'd have been pushed into that crush.

Didn't think anything more of it at the time, but certainly did two years later.

I was in the centre section that day also and the crush was awful, walking out after I could barely walk, I had pins and needles in my legs as we were packed so tight in there, and anyone in there that day must of thought after the disaster two years later there but for the grace of god go I

The snarling nastiness of South Yorkshire Police was an added element of unpredictability in those days, too.

Apparently Fadz is going to be in with the away fans for this. Think he deserves another rendition on the day?!

His current side kick off at the same time so I doubt it

I will double check with my source! (did wonder when I read his message)

Edit: Fadz is out injured for the rest of the season - hence, he'll be at the Sheff Wed game.

Anyone else remember being there in the night game in 84 in the FA cup when we lost 3-2
South Yorkshire police corralled us in that passageway under the Leppings Lane stand . One of the few times I’ve been really worried at football and that was when travelling away came with its own weekly skirmishes. We had only brought about 1500 at most that night , but the police seemed to squeeze almost all of us into that tunnel after the game.
Never experienced a crush like it . That was clearly a common tactic back then.
Apart from that incident , Hillsborough has nearly always been a pretty happy hunting ground for us . But the feeling of being crushed that day, I’ll never forget

It's a fucking ballache, always freezing cold even when it's 20+ degrees, 1 little hatch to serve the bottom tier and 1 for the top tier, leaky roof, shit view, cramped

I was at that one. The rain on the journey up was horrendous. Think it was abandoned after about 20 minutes.

They appear to have lowered the away allocation again this season. WBA & Sunderland both got 3.8K.

Have the club announced we sold the initial? Or is it that they've not opened another block yet

For anyone waiting on an announcement on the 2nd allocation, bear in mind for WBA they put them on sale without communicating (a friend missed out) so keep an eye on the website

Lets hope so. Remember WBA away and they forget to announce they had released more tickets which then sold out and everyone was waiting for the extra tickets to go on sale.

I was behind the goal and moved to the right of the goal in 1987 too and it was rammed. From memory, Stoke was worse as I was picked up off my feet in the surges on the terraces.

I was at both - Stoke was much worse in my view. When we scored I was squashed against the barriers with feet off the floor; very dangerously overcrowded

I'm not surprised, I went to the Friday night cup game and it was just a joke. I love Hillsborough as it still has something of an aura but the reality is the Leppings Lane end should have been demolished 30 years ago. The lower tier has only really been used again regularly over the past 10 years, it was mostly empty during the 90s and 00s.

Like the big quadrant to the left as you're sat in the away end.

Yeah totally agree. Cup game i was upper tier and will be this season but the league game I was lower and it was bloody dangerous.
