Hmm. It's cliche, but a better side would've probably punished us for Thomas' mistakes today.

And it's not really just an isolated case. Defensively he's been the weak link so far this season and his passing just isn't anywhere near good enough to support our build up style.

People bash him for good reason. He needs to be more consistent as he's more than capable at this level.

He hasn't been the weak link this season.. example I noticed a couple of shouts when he misplaced a pass on here , 2 seconds later liam heads a ball wayward straight down to a wednesday player that they create a chance from that nobody mentioned on here .. there's alot of bias with bobby for sure

This is where stats don't tell the full story. Anyone with eyes could see he struggled for much of the first half.

Over the 90 he was better than liam , second half he was great

Weird fascination to make out one or the other isn't good. They were decent last season and got no credit. Now a year older and experienced at the level with no Collins behind them. 4 clean sheets on the bounce, 5 in 9 so far, conceded 7 goals which includes 6 set pieces.

Very good and Wolfenden looks fantastic addition to challenge them.

the crazy thing is in this thread nobody has said Thomas was crap today, yet any sort of “negative” post and people come and compare the two of them and whinge when Thomas isn’t compared to Maldini

Actually Rob the fascination on here is to pick up bobby for absolutely everything he does , all im doing is backing up the fact that hes our strongest performing centre half this season

FWIW I do actually rate Thomas, and have been a big advocate of his since he arrived.

Kitching will probably lose the ball more over the course of 90 mins as he'll regularly attempt forward or cross field passes and drive forward.

But with Thomas it's where he loses the ball. From the eye test it seems to often be highly threatening positions and completely needlessly.

I think that's why he's regularly bashed. He's a frustrating player to watch.

Thomas usually sees more of the ball than liam in fairness

Away from this though , 1 goal conceded from open play .. its very good .. and both defenders have done a good job recently since wolfy arrived .. they are better than some give them credit for

I would've thought that's probably because Grimes is often the one to receive the ball in that left hand slot when he drops deep.

Agree on second point. It's a remarkable effort.

They were incredibly poor, especially defensively. Not surprising given the circumstances but I didn’t think it was an outstanding performance from us. Some poor passages of play at times, definitely could tell the players had a lot of minutes in their legs.

Sometimes teams are incredibly poor because they cant deal with the opposition .. thats their heaviest defeat this season and they were unbeaton in 3

No doubt they have issues but they won't lose 5-0 often

Rushworth 7 - no real saves to make. Commanded his area and his distribution was very good
Thomas 7 - a few loose moments in the first half but so pivotal attacking and defending set pieces
Kitching 7 - very solid again
Dasilva 7 - not as good as he was against Brum but offers so much going forward, deserves more assists
MVE 7.5 - defensively very good
Grimes 9 - he’s incredible. Leads by example and dictates the whole game
Allen 8 - very good performance and grabbed an assist
Sakamoto 9 - incredible engine and wonderful goal
BTA 9 - constant threat and deserved his brace
EMC 8 - unlucky not to score and was dangerous
Wright 7 - missed a great chance but his movement terrified them

Subs
KKH 8 - wonderful assist
Simms 8 - in the right place at the right time again
Wolfy 7 - looked comfortable
Bidwell 7 - steady as ever
Andrews 7 - glad he got some more valuable minutes
