Dovin is so, so much better than Collins and Wilson in every area. The calmnest is so helpful when calming the game down.

Wish he was a foot taller & more gobby with the defenders, but one of those traits will hopefully come over time. I’d say he’s our number one now for sure.

But he is very young for a keeper and just moved to a new country. You have to give him time and integrate him. He looked ok but not rock solid in his early games, especially on crosses.

One thing Robins did well was nurture players. Fans sometimes forget players are people. Some fans just expect that every new signing will hit the ground running or they are rubbish. They seem to think they are just a spreadsheet of stats, rather than a player and a person.

Yeah, he took him out for three games and it was quite clear why. His own back four kept turning and berating him during matches and Robins stated that they wanted to work on his communication and his relationship with the defence. Wilson did okay and Dovin was back in for the last 5. There is no story here.

The real headscratcher was the period where Collins was playing ahead of Dovin despite us conceding at 2 a game - but by that point Robins was long gone.

Collins was only playing because Dovin got injured, then Carr should’ve brought Dovin back in but didn’t and Lampard just maintained the status quo to start.

Carr probably cost us a good few points by not bringing Dovin back in.

Yes because we would have won or drawn those games with him in charge if Dovin had played

Carr might have a pass as I don't know whether he was fully fit/in full training for any of the three games. Made the bench for the third game right? I was more referring to the 8 games of the Lampard era. He surely should have noticed that Dovin had the 1 shirt?

Three things we’ve been crying out for were a bit of nastiness, the ability to move the ball quickly and forward and a keeper able to make saves. Kitching, Allen and Dovin have plugged some of that gap. I’m absolutely amazed we’ve tried Binks and Lati so often instead of Kitching.

Even more madness Lampard did for more games eh? And probably more relevant considering he’s actually our manager.

Probably my biggest gripe about Lampard so far.

Think Cam is right, Lampard wanted to maintain the status quo and give people a fair chance, which is fair enough, but he gave Collins too long culminating in the Portsmouth debacle. Should have pulled the plug a couple of games earlier at least.

In reality he didn’t actually drop him and was likely just following Carr’s advice. Fortunately at this point I expect Dovin to remain our first choice for the rest of the season and beyond.

I cannot believe people are using Collins playing lampards first games against him whilst shutting down talk of dovin being dropped earlier on the season

Agenda?

You're determined to keep pointing fingers at people and making out there's an 'agenda'.
It's really boring. Those that want Lampard out early have hardly made a secret of it so it's not like it's a covert thing.

How many changes do we see to this team over the next 4-6 weeks. I’d expect the following to start: Bidwell, Sheaf, EMC, Wright, new midfielder loan (Rak Sayki), and likely Sakamoto/new loan. So likely 6 changes from the team that started. A top class defensive midfielder in front of Thomas and Kitching firing on all cylinders would be pivotal. Add in a true transitional 10 and the team starts to look interesting. Expect very little this season except a development in style and a big summer ahead as we line up targets to match that style.

You need to ask yourself why you keep getting triggered.

Some have admitted. Some don't and pretend they are giving him a fair shot. I am entitled to pass comment when I see it happening.

I'm not triggered. Just find your continuing sniping boring.
I'm not sure why anyone who criticises Lampard has to quantify it with Robins comparison, he's been gone 3 months.
And yes you're entitled to comment, just as I am on how boring I find it.

Well the keeper debate started because someone said Robins dropped Dovin for Collins which wasn't true and someone corrected.
I'm sure the agenda police will be launching a thorough investigation.

Well you can believe me or not but I only read someone saying Carr dropped dovin and I'm pretty sure he was dropped earlier in season too. After that game he let goal in near post. Can't remember who it was against now. Robins dropped him for Wilson iirc

And he probably had his reasons but unfortunately it led to a prolonged period with shit keeper. I'm glad dovin is back in now and I expect him to stay on consistently now.

Havnt seen a pile on

I am just shocked at people criticizing lampard for not dropping the current number 1 keeper at time of his joining before he actually fucked up.

But don't remember same posters clamouring for dovin back in when he was dropped originally. Maybe I'm wrong and they were going mad at robins but I don't remember it.

But he was dropped for Wilson. Whether that was right or not it wasn't the calamity that followed when Collins was reinstated.

I've said, I think Lampard tried to do right by him and give him a chance, but it went on too long, but, yes, hopefully Dovin gets a run now.
