Aye, I rated him poorly just because he’s not really cut out for the job he was asked to do. Good that he got minutes though. He's not a 10/attacking mid so I assume the idea behind playing him there is to use his energy for pressing and give us more presence in midfield compared to when BTA is there. For me he just didn't impact the game enough, played slightly too high and seemed to be lacking some fitness.
I think Lampard sees him as someone who can play the 8/10 role when neededDidn’t he play further forward as a kid? I’m sure I remember him being top scorer for the U23s at one point.

He wasn't helped by BTA left side either as he struggled first half too .Aye, I rated him poorly just because he’s not really cut out for the job he was asked to do. Good that he got minutes though.
Would argue that he sold Sheaf , who is predominantly a 6 as that is the Grimes roleLampard doesn’t see number. Just midfielders. 6, 8, 10 these are numbers for lesser managers.
I’m just not convinced by BTA down that side of the pitch either. A clone of Sakamoto there however, yes please. He wasn't helped by BTA left side either as he struggled first half too .

Something went bad with Sheaf last season. Rumours of bids preseason then injury after injury ,just never seemed to be available or playing at the same level as previous seasonsDon’t think he ever rated Sheaf. Got the impression Sheaf was unhappy when Robins left tbh and never really settled with the new management.
Agree, though Lampard could have taken either Torp or Eccles off at HT. The only difference is Torp is a tidy player and is a goal threat.Torp was worse in the first half.
Although I find it very difficult to tell them apart at times.

I imagine Sheaf was expecting to leave last summer, no move materialised and then he was named captain probably against his skill set and during a tough part of the season.Something went bad with Sheaf last season. Met him a few times when he was with us as he was seeing a girl in Rugby and her parents used to drink in the same pub as us . He is a lovely lad , very grounded and no airs or graces about him
Yeah but defenders will have been coached to avoid heading them to the edge of the box!He scared the shit out of them and turned the tide . Yeah some crosses were poor and that lass to write didn't execute but did far more good than bad.

Generally think van Ewijk is one of our best players but that performance today was baffling. Everything he did seemed to go wrong. One to write off for him personally.
Fair, just not how I saw it
