This site really is funny

every season people say we need a good start. slow start has done us

All of sudden it’s not important

look at the games. we have a nice run of winnable games to start with

No I think most people like to look at things in a positive manner and realise we are going to get injuries and not every single thing will go our way in a season.

The thing that is really funny is your constant negative and downbeat mindset that the world is going to end. You only ever appear on here to share a sometimes true, most of the time complete bollocks story that is inherently negative and only serves to whip up a frenzy of negativity with everyone. I’ve said it before but it must be genuinely exhausting to live in your head.

For someone who constantly bangs on about how everyone on here is a clown you don’t half love posting every negative rumour your hear on here for a bit of attention. You’d think you’d stop bothering.

Funny how everyone hates GIMOC for posting rumours and windups, however when Greggs did it, it was somehow endearing.

@GIMOC change your avatar to an owl picture, you’ll thank me for it.

If I am honest, I am struggling to see where Sheaf fits into a 433 system. He's not exactly a DM, nor an AM.

433 plays without either most of the time.

It plays with a 6 and 2 8's.

Sheaf is a 6.

and we've got that bloke Josh Eccles to cover him, who played consistently well over 44 games last season.

Is it ideal? No. Is Eccles, Torp and Rudoni with Allen, Palmer, Andrews as backup OK for a week or two? Probs.

I think people's reaction is mostly to you sharing bad(ish) news like you're happy about it. Chill your tits, m8!

Regarding Sheaf. I think everyone is bigging him up just a tad too much. A player who has improved a lot, good tracking back and defensively. Not a goal scorer, not particularly a visionary pass maker. He holds down midfield well but has always made a mispass and is a little slow. Good player but not exceptional. If we sell for a good few million it would be good business.
I do believe Torp will work along side Rudoni in an exciting midfield and have goals in them and visionary passes. Eccles under those circumstances could easily be the Sheaf role of tracking back and defensive minded. It's a team game and the cogs have to fit.
We will be playing an attacking game and one which may also suit Palmer's role.

Fully agree with this and would add ‘without actually seeing any of our pre-season friendlies, so just going on reports & match threads on here’ it seems Jamie Allen has been playing well, I honestly think he‘s a better player than a lot give him credit for & as long as he is fit will play an important role in the season ahead.

Refreshing to see majority on here are not buying into Gimoc trying to promote negative hysteria.
Sheaf is a very good player - yes.

But in the last 3 seasons he has always missed considerable chunks of games.

23/24 - 36 games (all comps) out of 53 games.
22/23 - 38 games (all comps) out of 51 games.
21/22 - 37 games (all comps) out of 48 games.

So whether it's now. Christmas or during the run in we all know he's going to miss 10 league games through injury most likely.

It isn't ideal. But we have a very good squad with good options. Doesn't shift my positivity at all for the season.

We’re no longer a 1 man team, Torp, Rudi and Eccles is more than good enough to start the season with, and with Allen available as well we’ll be fine and I’d fancy us to sign another CM by the end of the window

all about opinions i suppose.

I couldnt disagree more. He's a CDM, his job is to win the ball back, help out the defence and turn defence into attack. Without looking at the stats i'd be amazed if he isnt up there with the best in the league.

we dont/shouldnt rely on him to score goals (although obv they would be nice)

Also disagree on his passing ability, but do agree that Torp and Rudoni will offer something different, whether its "better" remains to be seen!

He's bigged up because he's one of, if not the the best in the division at fulfilling his role in this team - he's exceptional for what he offers this team. He's a defensive duel monster which is one of the key things a lot of top teams seek in recent years. Whilst he doesn't get goals and assists he is completely comfortable linking everywhere on the pitch. It makes such a difference to the team when you've got someone like this. There's a reason he's voted best player of the season by his peers and why he isn't rotated by MR - if he's available, you put him in.

I like Eccles and what he has to offer, but currently there is no one at the club who can purely do what Sheaf does in this team on a consistent basis.

You do realise It's not like we have to play with 10 men?

We can just pick someone else from our super strong squad ...... simples.

Start with Eccles, Rudoni, and Parker/Tort/Allen

If Wright is fit enough to start we could even start EMC in midfield.

Or we could go 4-4-2 and play BTA up front with Simms.

Oh to have such options 🩵🩵🩵

Start the season well and Sheaf will struggle to even get back in!

I think we start with Scott Parker and a chocolate Torte in midfield, and we still beat Stoke.

If Sheaf is out, I would probably start Eccles, Rudoni and Allen in midfield, with Torp in reserve. Allen offers something the others don't, and that his selfless running that stretches the game and gives his fellow midfielders more room to operate.

Sheaf being out is not ideal, but far from a disaster.

I am hoping that Torp has been able to learn a little from sheaf since he's been here. If he can get that defensive, duel winning part of his game added he'll be a real asset!

Hopefully be back just after the transfer window closes then. We’re in a good position where 1 injury doesn’t completely derail us. Other than Milan we are well stocked in every position incase of injury.
