Coventry City 'agree' £6.5m deal with Wrexham for Ben Sheaf

Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as Sky Blues skipper reported to be on his way out of the CBS Arena
tinyurl.com
£6.5 million - not bad seeing as he only has a year left on his contract.

Club captain, 27 years of age. On his day he was fantastic at times, but that was never consistent.

Far too injury prone too.

I wish him all the best, good business for both clubs.

Getting fed up with trying to keep up with about 100 transfers/ rumours on one thread. Good on you make a thread for each rumour transfers! I can't frigging keep up.

I think a good deal all round.

He’s been with us into his 6th season. He isn’t a regular anymore but been a great servant to the club no doubt. He probably needs a change of scene as well and a new project.

No doubt a player that’s helped us with our rise and stability.

It’s a shame he never reached the potential and picked up by a Prem team. A few seasons back he was all the rave.

Nothing but best of luck to him and he’s part of our history.

Shows how strong out midfield is.
Fond memories, but gave the ball away in dangerous positions too much and is slightly fragile. Can't see him getting any better either.

Needs a career reboot, really. With hindsight, it would have been better for all concerned if he'd have been sold last summer when his stock was so high. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Will be a good player for them if he can stay fit.

Leaves us a bit short.

It's not that strong, Jamie Allen will be the back up midfielder.

That said £6.5m for a player with one year left on their contract, is a decent deal.

Grimes, Eccles, Lati, Allen....strength in numbers. Not the hardest position to play on the pitch. Just don't give the ball away like Sheaf used to do regularly.

IF he can stay fit. His fitness is the big issue for Sheaf now, I'm just worried he's not gonna get through his medical and any deal we have lined up that depends on it is gonna fall through

It not a year it’s 1 year plus a 1 yr option for the club so effectively 2 yrs.

If you want good money get Wrexham interested .IMO they have and will play over the odds on all their deals if they sign Sheaf.

@usskyblue you already seemed to be ahead on this. If you could help round up a few of the fanatics from the off topic to go with the Sheaf supporters, that would be great. This place will be far more chilled.

Announce promotion now.

fucking hell, selling the club captain but it’s ok because we’re relying on Eccles, Latibeaudiere and Allen as replacements??

I do hope there’s at least one other CM lined up as none of those names are good enough if we’re serious about getting out of this division

I like Sheaf as a player but that's a great price given his injury record, best of luck to him if he goes

You've got your wish, you're now just starting to look a hit of a c**t tbh. When we're losing to Wrexham because one of our front line midfielders is injured and we're watching Jamie Allen run around and do nothing (yeah but he works hard and hes good in the squad), then you can enjoy your I told you so moment.

Don’t think Wrexham fans are exactly celebrating this one, the only positive post I’ve seen is “it’s an upgrade on Matty James” least he’ll keep the physios busy

It’s mad our season could actually depend on what happens tomorrow, one of the best starting 11s in the league, just dread our first big injury

Strong with the 3 currently playing, one injury, one suspension and we re left with Allen and Eccles

I've already had my I told you so moment. You need to deal with that, like you will have to deal with Sheaf leaving, which you are clearly having trouble with.

I've left the link above for people like you to go over there. Maybe they'll offer you and any other CCFC fans joining a shirt with his name on, or free tickets.

Have fun.

I've got no problem with him leaving, I have a problem if we don't sign a replacement. He should've come on yesterday, I'd ask if you agree but doubt you were there, just sat on here and wanking at the thought of him leaving. You'll need a new target of hate for your dartboard.
