On a day when our youth 'strikers' showed little promise, Shaun Jeffers bagged two for Peterborough http://www.theposh.com/news/article/20131207-five-star-showing-for-posh-1221128.aspx

Still don't quite understand why we let Jeffers go considering the patience we had with Wilson whilst he was injured. Darren Ferguson and Barry Fry do know a young player when they see one and it'll be interesting to see how he develops there.

just part of a lengthy list of players that were deemed to be too expensive to keep,
perhaps TF might have a view on this ?

We should stockpile all our players in case they ever do anything positive somewhere else.

So he's scored two goals and all of a sudden he's a Good player?

He was shocking for us. And we kept him on our books for far too long!

Jeffers had more than enough time with us, had plenty of spells on loan, hardly inspired.

Best of luck to him if he does make a career down the line, but he'd shown less than nothing with us, and if ever a player deserved to be released it was him.

Jeffers always looked a better player than Wilson in the early days.

We're doing better this season than last season with a large "competitive squad"

You'd obviously prefer a large squad full of average overpaid players who are barely good enough for this level, but are 'known'.

Callum Wilson 17 games 1 goal on loan at Kettering Town (Conference) (This was before his big injury)
Shaun Jeffers 22 games 1 goal on loan at Cheltenham Town (League 2)

Jeffers made 6 appearances for City, he wasn't afforded the time to develop in the way Callum has, yesterday was his first start for Peterborough against League 1 opposition and he bagged a brace.

I'm not saying he is going to be amazing but why give Callum the time and not Jeffers

Also I would have Jeffers every day over Billy Daniels who offers literally nothing going forward

Pretty sure Wilson played on the right wing for Kettering.

Re: Jeffers what about his other loan spells at Cambridge (2 subs, 2 unused, 0 goals) and Tamworth (6 games no goals)

You can't keep every youngster. Pressley chose to release him.

Re: Billy D, he's 2 years younger than Jeffers and Wilson so still has time to develop.

Surely the people within the club saw more of both Jeffers and Wilson than their basic stats can ever indicate. With Wilson being a revelation this season it's hard to really question that, even in the face of Jeffers scoring some goals in a game.

Never said that, just that we should have given him the chance we've given Wilson

So you'd have dropped Clarke or Wilson and replaced one them with Jeffers this season?

Wow just wow.

As said before, he had ample of chances under a fair amount of managers. Never worked out for him, and a move elsewhere was his only option if he wanted any chance of making it as a footballer.

I don't wish bad on the player, just don't ever think he'd have made it here with us. Ever.

NO, can you read? I never said that, I questioned as to why Jeffers was not given the time and chances Callum has had (not saying he would have been amazing, but if Ferguson and Barry Fry think he's good enough for The Posh then it is worth keeping him on) 6 appearances isn't a fair chance imo
