Shakira will headline the World Cup closing ceremony, event officials have announced.

The Colombian popstar performed World Cup anthem 'Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)' at the June 10 opening ceremony.

According to a spokesperson for the show, the closing event will be “more youthful and a bit more technologically advanced” than the opening.

The singer is expected to sing the tournament's anthem again.

The closing ceremony will take place this Sunday.

A sad comment on your country that not one UK terrestrial channel could be arsed to show the closing ceremony. BBC News 24 did show bits of it but was interrupted by news bulletins and tickertape streaming. There was supposed to be live coverage on BBC1 red button but it failed to materalise.
