The big hope is Mike Ashley gets planning permission for his empires proposed new base in Ansty. If his roots are settled here I can see him then trying to buy the club.

Do other fan bases spend a lot of time on here reading random threads?

Trouble is it would have to go outwards and there isn't room due to the railway line. Casino/Exhibition hall prevents you from doing the other side. South stand and you might be too close to the road.

The railway line isn’t that close. An upper tier would sit above where people currently queue for the turnstiles.

I think we’re all getting a bit ahead of ourselves anyway!

Might as well consider the massive expansion the club is potentially getting into as well stagnation seems to be the former currently ?

Talk of expanding is ridiculous. Nottingham Forest , Wolves and Leicester sell out matches more often than not. All three are looking to expand towards 40k, 50k and 40k respectively.
We are not at that stage . We are not even in the premier league so we can't know what the demand will be. Historically we lose support quickly when things are on the slide whereas those clubs tend to hang on to their support more than us.
Things have moved on since we were relegated from the prem all those years ago. Attendances are generally higher and so I would expect our support to remain good as long as we're pushing for promotion but until we are bursting at the seams watching an average team, any talk of adding another 7-8k won't happen.

It is ridiculous at this stage, but isn’t it nice that we’re now talking about it?

7 years ago this place was full of talk about how a 15k capacity stadium at Warwick Uni would be suitable for us.

Buying one now to guarantee a semi final ticket would surely get 2024/25 sales way over 22k???

It will get through, too many jobs involved will be a massive boost for the area. If he gets his base here and he owns the ground can only see him trying to buy the club.

Buying the ground was a no brainer as it’s something he can easily sell on and and it won’t really devalue. By my gut instinct is he’s waiting until he can settle his empire here before he would even think about buying the club.

Do we want Ashley owning the club?
It would be great to finally reunite the club and stadium, but I’m happy with the job Doug is doing

expanding the CBS!!!! The FA needs to sor out Bournmouth and Lutons lack of space first its madness that they can survive on such meagre gates! what happens when the Premier League money tanks?

Isn't it Ashley's son in law that runs things now anyway, I think them buying the Arena and throwing cash at it is a loss leader to getting Ansty Park up and running

Totally agree, there should be a minimum capacity of 30,000 required to be in the Prem.

That would exclude all but 26 clubs in the English league system. And MK don't count because they're shit, and should be banned from the football league. So we would only have to be better than 5 other teams.

West Ham also shouldn't count, because it's not a football stadium. And obviously Wednesday should just be banned from taking part in any competition full stop.

He just leeched money from Newcastle every year - using them as a cash cow - whilst never letting their club have a real go at anything. Clever businessman, who really wouldn't give a sh&t about our club.

If he owned the club, I presume he could set up charges / withdraw funds at his behest. If you owned your own company, I presume you could award yourself all sorts of payments, bonuses etc, provided they were reported correctly.

The money comes from TV and sponsorship, only the likes of Liverpool the Manchester and a couple of the London clubs generate loads from match day revenue and club merchandise. The media will ensure they keep it going. Loads of people moan about tv ruining the came but keep paying their subscription.

Expanding the CBS? Wouldn’t even be thinking about it until we are selling out week in week out with a waiting list for STs on top of which why would Mike Ashley spend millions without a return? We may spend some money to enhance match day experience but not on a major capital project like that.

With the TV money the Prem attracts, some clubs don’t need to sell tickets to turn a profit.

Ten Premier League clubs could make a profit if they played in front on NO fans after bumper TV pay deal

TEN Premier League clubs would still have made a profit if they played in front of absolutely no fans thanks to the incredible TV deal. At the start of the 2016-17 season, clubs in the top-flight r…

Can it spin round like the cafe in the lower precinct did back in the day?

In all seriousness Barcelona have developed their ground by just adding tier on tier. The top tier has always housed the terracing.

And he won't put a penny in just like at Newcastle. Newcastle had to live off the income it generated, so just like Coventry under SISU.

The Mike Ashley Dream Is Delusional.

The only way he would make money is if we were a premier league team, if we are in it every year he can take out what he wants. Morons.

This season was the all time record for season ticket sales, and I believe it was capped at 18.5k (?) which I believe we sold.

Is it likely to be higher of lower next season? Will the cap be increased? I know there will have been increased interest last season with the PL package, and the play off final, but this seasons run-in is exciting with the play off chase and Wembley visit.

I thought 19.3k had been sold this season? Must have glitched?
