I’m just saying what neutral friends said'We were the better team over 2 legs' doesnt ring true for me
We had loads of the ball yes. But did fuck all with it
I know people on here struggle to face reality, but Sunderland did a job on us and executed it perfectly. Yes they got lucky with a 132 minute winner, but we didnt do enough
But they were. The only time we even looked like breaking through was immediately after they scored.First leg they were the better team - no chance

OK. We drew up there in the league. We beat them easily at home. For me we battered them in the second leg and made a huge mistake in the first. They will 100% be relegated and they will do it playing a style of football as entertaining as piles.Nonsense. As far as I'm concerned very team that gets promoted deserves to get promoted.
Who cares how? Combination of skill and luck. We wouldn't be complaining if we'd done the same as them.
Staying up there will be a hell of a challenge, but good luck to them.
Im not having a dig Pete, I just think its a phalacy overall with football. People see us have lots of the ball and say 'ooo better team'when in reality we just pissed about sideways and back
GK suspect for me.Looked like the slowest shot ever, but bang in the corner, looked brilliant
Especially the young bit, I expect it to serve them well next season. They started well, kept themselves in the playoffs with a young squad and then rode their luck or were master tacticians depending how you luck at the play offs.
Shows what can be done in the championship lottery and we just need to make sure we are in the playoffs again next season to give ourselves a chance of promotion.
Caveat to that ... unless we get a billionaire or Middle East state to buy us to the Prem, and frankly, i would rather not see that. I don't like it in other teams, so why should i want it for us. I would rather see us be competitive year after year in the Champ than see us getting spanked week in, week out, in the Prem in front of a half-empty CBS.But saying top 6 is the minimum suggest that realistically we should do more.
And closing a 31 point gap on the parachute payment teams isn't realistic in my opinion, not for Lampard, not for Robins, not for anyone managing City.
But that just limits us to also rans at best that lose at Wembley every so often.Caveat to that ... unless we get a billionaire or Middle East state to buy us to the Prem, and frankly, i would rather not see that. Reaching POs was hardly the minimum expected of FL this season…what else was he supposed to achieve?

Preferred the way Saddlebrains spelled it tbh…Fallacy

It’s why winning football is always better than the style, despite what some would have you believe. If we'd got out of this league the way they have I'd be delighted and I'd dismiss any criticism of the way we played as sour grapes.

I was about to say the same. Mid-season we looked like we would win every match. Leeds showed us up.I agree, though that opens up a whole new can of worms because you have to ask why we binned off the formation that gave us our most successful spell of the season
We were far from brilliant!I was about to say the same. Mid-season we looked like we would win every match. Leeds showed us up.
I get it, Lampard wants to win with style, but we were brilliant during that run, particularly away from home.
Think we need to be more flexible next year especially away.
We were far from brilliant!
We were a bit lucky, scrapped results with a fair few last minute goals, mostly playing a defensive formation!
How many games did you come away from thinking, yeah - good performance that!?!
Results were brilliant - performances not so.
Hence my thread - are we going to "shit" our way up?
I think that's unfairGenuinely think we’ve had maybe three decent performances under Lampard. Results have been great but we haven’t actually played that well. It’s what worries me about next season. Can you do that for a full season? Without the ten game purple patch we’d have been solidly mid table.
I think that's unfair
Middlesbrough
West Brom
Sunderland
Preston
Watford
Plymouth
Were all very good performances and more than 'decent' in my view.
Decent performance where we weren't spectacular but still the better team or in the case of Oxford obviously the better team but sloppy mistakes.
Portsmouth
QPR
Blackburn
Swansea
Bristol
Millwall
Hull
Oxford
And Burnley was also a decent performance sabotaged by Collins.
Feel it's a bit disingenuous to say we've only had three decent performances, not sure what your view on decent is but it sounds like you think we've played alright for three matches and was shit for the rest.
Yes not always free flowing football but there's always another team on the pitch trying to disrupt and stop you from playing.
From all our wins it would only be the Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke match where you would say we got away with it and didn't deserve the result in my view. Pretty much all our other wins we deserved or would say we just about edged it performance wise in a tight game.
There was some other shit performances along the way but generally we got deserved from those matches when we were poor.
There's always another team trying to stop you from playing the way you want and we know it's relatively fine margins separating a team chasing play offs to one struggling in the lower half. We're not good enough to regularly blow teams away for 90 minutes, we don't have the players to do it. Only Leeds did that this year in this league.Would argue with you over Plymouth Sunderland Middlesbrough but it’s still 6 out of what 31 games? And I’d argue whether we played well for 90 minutes in most of those games.
I’m not saying we didn’t deserve to win or whatever. Just we didn’t see a performance like first half at Watford where you thought “yeah this is this team playing how they want to the level they want”.

I think if you look at the results you can't genuinely argue with many of them that the result wasn't a fair reflection of the game.
Not sure that is entirely true. Some degree of truth in it for sure, but I think it was as much to do with Simms and Wright both being badly out of form at the end of the seasonThat was the story of the 2 legs. What it has showed is our inability to be creative and clinical around the box. Needs to be addressed.
My concern is we have no plan b to counter a defensive way of playing. We’re good when the other side wants to give us space.I think other teams have played well more often. I don’t think anyone is saying we need to blow teams away, most of the games I’m citing as decent performances we won by a single goal I think. Just a consistent pattern of play where it looks like we know what we’re doing.

this was woefully shown up against Luton, Portsmouth at home, Derby and the Play offs. Teams that thought they could go toe to toe with us were generally blown away. Sunderland, West Brom and Middlesbrough.
Unless we scored early we were bogged down by the “lesser” teams
There were also 3/4 games I think where the opposition had players sent off!Genuinely think we’ve had maybe three decent performances under Lampard.
