Well as there was no CCFC game this evening, myself and the 3 others I'm with opted to travel to Dundee to watch Dundee United versus Everton game.

Thought I'd report back on my findings regarding some of the players we watched!

Hopefully Andy will get the message and rush to sign them up......

I'll start with the home team first. Dundee United have a few decent players and at least 3 caught my eye. Their right back Keith Watson was impressive both defending and going forward. First half they had a left winger (who would also switch to te right), Gary Mackay Steven who went on some mazy runs cutting inside Herbert, who is an experienced Priership player and struggled against GMS. Then second half he was replaced by Ryan Dow who was equally as good on the wing.

Everton had some decent looking players too (fair few first teamers appeared). Ross Barkley is a big lad, but was near their first team last season so don't think there'd be much chance of us getting him, and got the only goal of the game with a very strong, well finished header. Looked very composed going forward, always looking for the ball.

They do also have a young striker who I'd not heard of before so don't believe he was part of their first team plans (not last season anyway) called Apostolos Vellios who looked a hand ful. Has got height, some good touches, and for a striker, like to get stuck in even if it's going to hurt. I'd say he fits the transfer criteria for us, and could be (but probably won't be) a good signing for our league (if not for us). Everton do seem to struggle when it comes to strikers so maybe he will get a luck in there.

Vellios scored a few off the bench for Everton last year. Their fans rate him very highly. Barkley's a class act as well.

Mackay Steven is ex-Liverpool I think, wondered where he'd ended up. Quite handy from what I remember. Not heard of Dow or Watson before though.

I thought it was their other striker Staqualaski (spelling is an appalling attempt, sorry lol) who was the one who got a few for them last season. However if it as Vellios I can see why they rate him!

He scored 3 times for them according to wikipedia at a rate of a goal every 86 minutes.

Don't know whether they'll want him as a first team player this year but I'd imagine if he does go out on loan it would be to a Championship side.

Always worth a try though!

I see Mackay-Stevens has moved to Celtic in the last transfer window (also had agreed pre contract terms prior to the transfer going ahead for the summer). Knew I could spot a player

Just checked back and the RB Keith Watson has been loaned out a couple of times, and is currently with Hibs, and Dow is at Forfar (not so successful )

Vellios was let go by Everton last yr and is now playing in Greece. Seems a waste of a talent.

And Stracqualursi was in loan to Everton but now plays for Baniyas FC (??) although his scoring record hasn't been too bad in his career.

Yes, I'm bored but thought I'd check on how my scouting went.....

The key question is not whether they are good but whether they are out of contract.
