We can, but naming Wasps in JR2 makes it a little embarrassing.

Just a thought but is there anything stopping the club looking at the possibility of buying into compass?

True. Deal is still poor for the club though.

We get £75K for just sending our fans there and not investing a penny in the set up.
Sounds like we need to get at Compass but Wasps seem to be restricted with that as well.

Its not embarrassing, the decision to sell to wasps should be scrutinised. Its CCC that are going to be scrutinised not wasps, companies go to court all the time. Wouldn't make much of a difference anyway, they still have a business model they have to adhere to.

Possibly. Not sure to be honest. I thought it was a separate arm of a larger company set up specifically for the Ricoh as it's a joint venture with ACL, ACL having a share in the company? Could be way of in that but if right and ACL have a share is there an opportunity for the club to gain a share?

Nothing positive about academy - obviously there is no room at BPA for one and a new ground. All that was said was they were still trying to get some sort of deal done with Coventry Sports Foundation but because they couldn't/wouldn't commit to anything long term it was proving difficult

Is that us not commiting long term or the foundation ?

No, IEC is the arm of the arm of acl you are thinking about, acl own 77% (?), compass own the other 23%. But the problem is IEC has a contract with compass to deliver the F&B's, it is that contract I believe where tbeh take their 70% cut rather than IEC.

This is compass....they are huge

Seems like Wasps and CCFC need to re buy the 70% back from Compass.
I know someone with a connection to compass and he says they see the Ricoh as small fry.
That was of course before Wasps came to town

Thanks Stu. I knew there was something just couldn't remember what.

I guess it's a share of IEC that the club would need to buy into then to gain a bigger share of the pie money or wouldn't it work like that? That's an open question not specifically one to you Stu.

Have you got anything constructive to say? Try reading the following posts, the misunderstanding has been cleared up. There's no need to be a dickhead just for the sake of being a dickhead.

Well rugby fans are allowed to drink while watching the game, they must spend 4 times as much as CCFC fans.
I have been to a few Rugby games around the country and they definitely spend more then we do.

So what do you want them to give us?
I am a valued customer at my local shop what benifits do they give me for that?

You keep harping on about how much Wasps owe then expect them to give us everything for free.
If it was the other way around would you expect City to give their tenants everything they asked for?
No you wouldn't and nor or would I.

I wouldn't.

But then ultimatly, this is why a landlord/tenant relationship can't really work.

They can't buy back the 70% from compass, this is what compass get contracted to deliver.

Compass are a huge international company, this is small fry to them with wasps here.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to say thanks Jan for the detailed update.

Just to add, that's not the official website - it's a blog written by a supporter who attended a supporters' forum. I'm not sure that CRFC would've wanted this news to break in this way.

So then, it seems that pretty much everyone, regardless of opinions, accepts we're not going to get a deal out of Wasps. Can we now put to bed the idea that we're somehow 'partners' with them or that selling the Ricoh to Wasps was in any way good for the club.

Anyone, especially anyone from the Council, who warbles on about the club now needing to drop their hands and talk to their 'partners' at either the Council house or the Wasps is treating us as imbeciles. Neither of those parties is in partnership with the club - one is making money out of it, the other has completely screwed it.

The only leverage we'd have as fans would be to boycott Wasps games until and unless they figure out a way to give us a little more than the 15% that we're currently getting, but clearly that's not going to happen because too many people have already rolled over and given up.

So to my mind we need our own ground, even if that's only 15,000. We need it financially, and we need it for our own pride as a club.

To paraphrase - with 'partners' like Wasps and CCC, who needs enemies!

Why does it have to be 15k that doesn't make sense in any way or form?

Irrelevant as why it has to be 15k
If it can go to 25k (not big enough)
It doesn't need to start at 15k

It's the point I am making.
Start with 18k
Get an answer as to why the limit is 25k
Is it due to an ignorance about our potential or a physical limitation?

Something we might need to think about is that if the BPA idea does not happen then we still need to look at other options. TF did say he had a few sites under consideration, we know they were probably in fantasy land but we may now need other options. If they were happy to build on this small area then maybe we no longer need the full 30 acres as mentioned.
Just a thought but if CCC turn planning permission down we need to put pressure on them to either change there minds or find an alternative site.

Would that be before or after the court case over the planning?

Seriously though yes if the best option is to leave the Ricoh the fans should challenge CCC.

Personally at this stage I do not know what the best option is

Could somebody summarise the catering deal
Did ACL or CCC negotiate this and did they receive an upfront payment from Compass ?
How long is the contract ?
What is the profit share ?

IIRC Acl negotiated it with compass, they bought them into deliver hospitality in the Ricoh, it was originally a 10 year deal. Compass then paid £4m to acl, which got then the 23% share in IEC the subsidiary of acl.

Wasps have subsequently renegotiated and signed a new 15 year deal with wasps
