I used to rate Sammy as a player but to now be playing in that league is a shame.

You what?
Kilmarnock are better than us?
Scottish football is a joke.
Only Rangers and Celtic are bigger than us in Scotland.

Bit of a side-ways move from Doncaster.

No surprise that then.

Is that a joke ? Scottish Premier football is no better than League One football bar one or two clubs (although that's a discussion for another time)

What makes people say he thought he was above playing for us? Maybe he just wanted a change?

I think it may be because he didn't sign a perfectly good offer that was tabled and thought he could follow in the footsteps of Crainie, Keogh and King. He clearly isn't as good as any of those players.

He would be a good player for us in league 1, he has had no pre season this year and that is why I think he never kicked on at Donny. as for Kilmarnock, no way they are a better side and its more that the league is awful. Inverness are second, top scorer is Billy McKay who was released by Northampton Town a year ago!

Surely all we actually know of that is that he didn't sign a new contract? I didn't hear much from him but he never seemed to give the impression that he's better than us or should be in his rightful place in the top divisions. I can't exactly blame him for leaving us when he did.

Fair point although he didn't refute the public comments from the club that they had tabled an offer.

I heard he was offered a lower basic than that but with bonuses it had the potential to equal that sort of figure annually.

He will get less at Kilmarnock. I believe he turned down offers at Aberdeen and Hibs at the start of the season as the basic wage was under £3k a week.

Good luck Sammy. One of my favourite players from the last few years. Played out of position by AT and made a scapegoat by our fans when the diamond didn't work.
Perhaps a few fans could reflect on those points and the fact that the worst performances I saw... Home to Donny and away to Forest... Sammy didn't play in.

Hmmm, well I saw him hand Brighton a goal after barely a few minutes, and feature in the surrender at Ashton Gate. Worst captain in years.

Greedy horrible little man. Thank god we don't have him anymore!
Some of the most boring football played by him last season and everything had to go through him!
Poor poor Killie

This is the kind of thing I mean. Based on little more than rumours and the testimony of people who are otherwise regarded as lying schysters, almost every player who leaves us instantly becomes scum who deserve to fail based on assumed viewpoints that rarely come from the player themselves.

He was offered 8k. I think he deserves stick, obviously thought he too good to go down. Compare his exit to somebody like Keogh, who went out paying his respects to the club and fans

Reminds me of a story pornmeister David Sullivan tells when he was co owner of Brum:
-Mario Melchiot was on 24k/week and was offered 32k/week to resign new contract. His agent told him not to sign, so Brum withdrew offer....he ended up playing for Rennes next seaon on £8k/week...greedy fecker

Ignoring that you're completely guessing his mindset, why does that deserve stick? Who would want to go down the divisions if they felt they could contribute to a higher level? What's wrong with ambition? He's an internationally-capped player nearing the latter stage of his career after all, the window of opportunity isn't exactly wide open.

You bring up Keogh who made a respectful statement. Clingan said nothing, which shouldn't assume disrespect.
