He really can't get it right. When playing for his club he plays dangerous back passes that potentially let the opposition in on Goal.

For his Country he goes one step further and deflects the ball into his own net.

Things started brightly enough, with the hosts having the best of the first period only to go behind a minute before the break after Sammy Clingan diverted Havard Nordtveit's shot past Lee Camp

Overated in my eyes.

Obvious he's leaving end of season. I wouldn't be bothered even if he didnt start for us. Much prefer the midfield without him.

I must admit that the midfield seems stronger since he has been out, but is this more to do with experienced players being on the field instead of young Bigirimana and Thomas?

He has never gotten it right. Ever since day one, everyone has praised him like he has been a gift from God. When in fact, he's awful.

Thomas has come on hugely the last couple of months.

Deegan makes a difference aswell. We need him to stay fit till end of the season if were gonna stand any chance.

Well he's not awful is he. And nobody's praised him that much. Just over-exaggeration. He's a good player, hasn't had a great season. Nothing more, nothing less.

City fans, we're never happy unless we're slating our own players!

For me he just doesn't seem interested though, you can be a good player all you want but if your heart not in it then why play him? And a pattern emerging from him

He played for Forest (They got relegated and he jumped ship)
Played for Norwich (They got relegated and he jumped ship)
Currently playing for us (We look likely to be relegated and he'll no doubt jump ship)

For me it proves he has no loyality for his club(s).

Thats football.

Players gets praise when they deserve it and get slated when they deserve it. Simple as that

I never really liked his style of play much, can be effective but more often of late too careless, trying long passes that do not reach their target or getting robbed in midfield because he dwelt on the ball too long under pressure.

Half of Citys problems stem from midfielders with poor ball retention skills, who don't have the knack of getting in the box at the right time to follow up attacks, who don't move enough off the ball to make themselves readily available for passes and who don't have a great eye for the forward pass. Deegan & Thomas are better than Clingan at most of these aspects (not always, but on average), plus Deegan is rather biting in the tackle and Thomas has very good positional discipline for one so young & is highly likely to improve an awful lot in the next 2 years. I'm happier with them in & Sammy on the bench.

Asking what's going on, on the back of one deflected own goal? It was deflected...he obviously didn't mean to do it. Would you English fans (I'm from NI) question Parker as he got sent of on Sunday and then seemed to deflect Robbens second goal last night?

Question Clingan as a player and his overall performances this season in a Sky Blue shirt, but churlish to insinuate something like 'the guys rubbish...proved by an own goal last night'.

By all accounts, he had an ok game apart from that. New manager Michael O'Neill named Clingan in his post match interview saying he had a good game.

Is it a bit silly if it was a deflection.

My point is more about how much bad luck and bad judgements he's been making lately.

I haven't seen the goal but you don't tend to choose a deflection like a bad pass / decision.

Nope it's more about bad luck as I've said.

Disagree with that, I thought he was excellent in his first season, but he has been shite since then

He has shown that he is a competant player, like the title of the thread states, He just can't get it right at the moment.

Hes a decent player, I think hes playing within himself so not to get seriously injured knowing he must be fit at the end of season or no other club will come in for him
