Watching that replay it simply looks deliberate.

Yeah, but it appears that it has almost become an accepted practice. Happens all the time and usually the best you can get out of it is a free kick. Trouble is, it can be incredibly dangerous.

It's a bit different to the elbow on Saka, I feel, which was entirely deliberate.

I think there's a difference between "I'm going to lean on him to stop him getting to the ball" and "I'm going to elbow the player in the face."

I think one is really sneaky and the other is just seen as a method to ensure someone doesn't win the header, or the ball.

On YouTube there's highlights that cover 4mins+ that's from PNE ifollow I think and it shows this goal from behind the goal as one of the angles.
It wasn't Wilson ball to go at due to angle/height/pace. Also, Thomas was weak, if he was looking for a foul he didn't even ask for one.

Exactly how I saw it from Block 15.

I think he did but it was all about getting the ball and probably blind side of the ref, it was just a foul and Saka just unlucky how he landed.

I thought foot splayed was a sign of a broken hip (the bit of bone connecting the ball joint to the femur)?

Had a couple of my family have this and both had a splayed foot. (also the leg looked slightly shorter, though I think that just depends on how displaced it is).

You might be absolutely right

Personally, I think that tosser GIMOC needs a permanent ban for his predatory scare mongering WUM behaviour, planting the seed that Tatsu had a ‘shattered pelvis’ and appearing overjoyed at his own impudence.

Like a ripple in a pond, it had people genuinely worried.

I’ve liked cause I agree but the dangers are inherent and something needs to be done to stop it

Yes I have 3 prolapsed discs in my lower back. An inch shorter than I used to be. Sciatic nerve often plays up and I have nerve damage in right shin. Skin can feel like it has sunburn.

I’m not saying he wanted Saka to break his back or whatever but I think it’s a deliberate, dangerous thing to do.
I can’t see any reason to bend down like that other than to hurt the opponent.

Hope Kitch absolutely flattens him when we play them next season

It happens all the time but probably shouldn't.

I would say it wasn't a deliberate attempt to cause injury but I am certain the defender knew he was not going to win the challenge and could have pulled out.

He was comically late.

I wasnt going to say anything as i felt it wasnt right but considering the whataboutery on here and people making up about shattered pelvis or being at home on here which is massively unhelpful

From what i know, he has fractured 3 vertebrae.
That can be recovered from in 4 or 5 months. The issue is any potential nerve damage, and that cannot be ascertained yet

Definitely, because a few people said he was home, so then others started to make jokes about it.

If everyone had known he was still in hospital, I am sure we wouldn't have got the jokes.

Good luck to Sakamoto and I hope he makes a full recovery.

Quick google and looking at other examples in Football.

Shaun Williams fractured a vertebrae similar time last season for Portsmouth but was back for the first game of the next season playing for Gillingham. He was a lot older at 35 too.

(This isn’t taking into consideration the severity of his fracture vs the potential of Tatsu’s)

Do you think they just saw some random bloke from the Far East, limping and decided it must be him?

SM has a lot to answer for.

I was holding out for bruised ribs, if fractured, simple or compound? Recovery time 6 weeks at the most unless they are compound fractures or otherwise require surgery... Damn, now I'm doing it...

Did that at school.

Dickhead of a PE teacher got us all to gambowl on one of the gym horses and someone was supposed to catch you as you rolled off it.

My mate was supposed to catch me but thought it would be funny to let me roll straight off.

Fell about 4ft arse first onto a 40 year old gym mat.

Hurt like hell but no lasting damage. Got me out of PE for a few weeks though so not all bad

I'm not an expert in back injuries, but has likely fractured 3 vertebrae, and went home yesterday with club reps looking after him.
Edit - so meant to add that both Saddle and China could be right ...
