With De Boer getting sacked after just four games in charge at Palace, it got me thinking about short term jobs I've had. When I was about eighteen I tried my hand at being a plasterers assistant. I got the hod the wrong way round at my first try and going up the ladder ending up covered in plaster, but the plasterer I was working with was a miserable git. He was cocky and I told him to fuck off. I got sacked on the spot. I was there one hour ! Any jobs shorter than that ?

My shortest is 3 days, left the firm I was with for more money, hated my new boss and co worker's and they were all miserable fuckers, about 3 weeks later, where I was now working had needed more people just for one job, for about 2 weeks and they contracted the work out to the last firm. Quickly remembered why I walked out so soon.

1st day I joined the Army. 16, driven all the way up to Harrogate and waved off by my parents And (then) girlfriend. Got shown to my room. In with 7 other guys. All unpacking, chatting, getting to know each other and our surroundings. All except 1 guy who just lay on his bed asleep, using his day sack as a pillow. He lay there for probably 2, maybe 3 hours and suddenly sprung to his feet. "Fuck this shit" he said, "I'm off"! And that was it! Never to be seen again! Weird one that. All the effort he must've put in to get to that point just to Jack it in before it even started!

Went to a telesales job in town, selling apparent advertising space cold calling. Went at lunchtime, pretty dodgy.

similar, when younger i went for a sales job, the ad made it sound great. got there and its door to door sales selling npower gas. they said go out and learn ropes with amanda and then when you get back we will sign the contracts

after 4 hours of walking around shitty estates getting sworn at by teenagers on bikes and doors slammed in our faces the girl finnaly made a sale to some old women, i just sat in her flat looking at her pet parrot!

after amanda said lunch is on work today ebcause you are new,so i had a large big mac meal, then we walkd past a bus stop going back into town, i just got on to the bus and shouted jobs not for me amanda and left. i was giggling like a schoolgirl on way back home

later got a call telling me how unprofessional i was, i just gave it the old whatever and hung up. last i heard from them

free maccys though, that was a good day
