They've certainly made a proper effort, which is good to see.

And that's the biggest asparagus I've ever seen.

Looks great and is a million miles away from what it was.

That being said, still feel it’s too small and long term we should be looking for a new site. Would be nice to be able to integrate the academy with the 1st team too.

if you had just posted the photos I would have thought King had moved us to a new training ground without telling anyone

Starting to look on par with PL clubs training facilities.

I believe they’ve got another temporary building on site. So it’s expanded again. Reality is the lodge needs to be knocked down and a new facility put in place. We’re not moving to a new site anytime soon.

Isn’t it nice to be a well run football club. Doug’s own words as he said it was embarrassing how we had been left

Wow , you need to pinch yourself really , as going from a building the scouts would have condemned, to something resembling Kew Gardens is unbelievable .
Doug , now to finish all this hard work off with promotion !

Didn’t think it was possible there! Looks superb. They honestly must’ve had to hide the training ground when trying to attract new players. Must’ve put so many off.

Wonder if they could ever expand it further.

I think it’s a known fact we’ve lost players because they saw Ryton. Even Robins has alluded to that.

Place looks class, it’s the one place the club can call home. Shouldn’t move from there until we get to the prem and money allows something on a different level. Ryton has soul.

Robins even said the other month that Vik couldn’t believe the state of Ryton. Luckily Vik is a very intelligent player who know the manger would give him the platform to succeed.

Wasn't there some rediculous comment that he had to get something before a game at Northampton because he hadn't eaten!
Thank god that era's over!

Loan move was doomed to fail from the off - He kept buggering off to play for Arsenal's reserves whilst he was on loan with us and he never got along from Pressley from minute one

He only ever got sent here because Wenger was impressed with how we knocked the ball about when we played them in the cup a few weeks prior

Looks absolutely fantastic, great job from all involved, actually feels like our owner cares. I thought long term we'd try and buy the sports connections building on the opposite side and build a modern facility, get out of that poky building we currently have.

Used to be ours. Jimmy Hill had to sell it because of the Washington Diplomats debacle.

Looks superb. I grew up within walking distance of the place and have fond memories of its history and heritage, but this is another level

Wonder how many players we’ve missed out on in the last decade or so who turned up at the previous shit tip version of Ryton and had second thoughts

Show De Gea around that, with all those vibrant Latin-esque floral arrangements, and he’ll sign anything.

Southampton's academy alone is bigger than Ryton.

So is Hearsall Common but that's covered in dog shit.

What's with big is best?

Ryton is Ryton, it's ours, it's been upgraded to what looks like a nice compact but bijou training ground with plans for further improvements.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

So?

For the past 10 years, Southampton have been in the PL with PL money. While we've gone through an era that we were lucky to ever recover from.

Give us 10 years of PL money and we would be competing in that area.

It feels absolute worlds apart from where we were only a few years ago.

Still think a training ground at Warwick Uni would make the most sense, does seem like Doug isn’t considering anything more than Ryton until promotion at least. Really rolling that turd in glitter though, fair play.

There's an argument to be made that a small 'homely' training ground has helped us foster the close unit and team spirit that we've managed to build under Robins and Adi. If any of you have seen the '99 documentary on Amazon where United were still using The Cliff training ground (shit hole) and Fergie built their environment and attitude around that.

Biggest issue is definitely losing out on signings purely because of it though, so it's good it's had a makeover. Can we not just show potential new signings around the CBS and get it all sorted out there?

Isn’t that what they used to have to do, but I think it was what robins said, 99% of their time they’re at the training ground.

One thing you notice from these state of the art training grounds that you see prem teams have got compared to ryton is that ryton isn’t just small, it feels it - very low ceilings in small rooms, tight corridors. Pokey.
Whereas the new ones, I suppose like all new build similar buildings like schools and sports centres etc are high ceiling big spaces. Restaurants, gyms, changing room etc
Got to be better for the soul.

Hopefully when we win the prem we can build a training ground like Leicester's.
