Liverpool are considering a number of loan offers from Championship clubs for highly-rated youngster Ryan Kent.
Boss Brendan Rodgers is prepared to let the 18-year-old attacking midfielder leave on a temporary basis in order to secure first-team football.

League One outfit Swindon Town were hoping to make Kent their fourth loan signing of the summer from Liverpool having already snapped up Kevin Stewart, Jordan Williams and Lawrence Vigouroux.
However, Swindon are increasingly resigned to him going elsewhere with Kent being pursued by a number of clubs in the division above them.

From August..

Not on any international duty as was suggested yesterday, but he sounds like he has a lot of promise and a month back there was talk of him going on loan to a Championship club,

Was he?

Okay. The Liverpool official website was wrong then when I checked it. It listed all the Liverpool players on international duty, both senior and youth and he wasn't on the list.

Just checked it again in case I missed him, but he's not on there.

Irrelevant though in the grand scheme of things. Bring it on if true.

Yeah he was on the bench though. I also think we have a player in Bryn Morris, he's captained his country at every level so he must have something about him

Morris has looked pretty average when he's played.

He might be average playing, but have you seen him dancing?

A sight to behold.

Ryan Kent is absolute quality! would be a great signing. Would of thought a championship club would take him though?

Don't think we've seen enough of him yet, as he's only played a bit part.

Strange that Kent didn't go to a Championship club when it was mooted about a month ago.

Maybe he went to Brendan Rodgers and said that he would rather play for the new Brazil than wallow away in the Championship. :thinking about:

I would think playing top of the league division 1 as good as lower/mid table championship which IMO is becoming a very exaggerated division

Tony Mowbray is close to landing Liverpool starlet Ryan Kent to fill the temporary void left by James Maddison.

The Coventry City boss sees the England youth forward as an ideal replacement for the home-grown No.10 who is sidelined for several months with a serious ankle injury.

Mowbray has also been eyeing pacy Newcastle United winger Alex Gilliead, who has been training at Ryton for the last fortnight and played alongside Kent and Middlesbrough’s Bryn Morris, already on loan with the Sky Blues, in England Under-20s’ international double header this week.

But Mowbray, who watched the Young Lions’ 5-0 thumping of Czech Republic on Saturday and had a scout at the second fixture – a 1-0 defeat last night – has Kent firmly in his sights for a loan deal which he hopes to complete before the weekend trip to Scunthorpe.

“He’s a young player who we have noted an interest with Liverpool,” revealed Mowbray.

“It might have a day or two to run yet but I would be hopeful of trying to close the deal. We’ve watched him for a while and he’s my type of footballer really.

“He’s a bit whispy but he can come in and do what James isn’t going to be able to do for the next four or five months. He can handle the ball, play off both feet, travel with the ball and play anywhere behind that main striker, so it makes sense.

“He’s a young boy who has got a bit of pedigree because you know when they come from a big club that they’ve had a good upbringing. He’s only an 18-year-old boy but we’ve got young boys in the team anyway so we know that if they’re in the right environment they can flourish.

“Hopefully we can get him in over the next couple of days but there’s a lot of competition for him so let’s wait and see.”

Alex Gilliead
Alex Gilliead
As for 19-year-old Gilliead, a regular team-mate of Adam Armstrong in the Magpies’ development squad. Mowbray revealed: “Alex has gone back for now.

“He was with us for a week or two but wasn’t allowed to play any games because it was in a hectic period of Saturday/Tuesday, Saturday/Tuesday and a lot of the training was game preparation so I didn’t see him play in a game, so he went off with the Under-20s and I said I’d watch him play for them and in some Under-21 games back at Newcastle.

“I’ll keep an eye on him really. He’s a very, very fast wide player and Adam obviously knows him very well because they’ve played in the same team together for a while with Newcastle Under-21s.”

Don't understand Gilliead...are we signing him or a loan deal? Surely he must be trying to earn a contract if he's been training with us for 2 weeks but a Google search says he's highly rated at Newcastle?

Yep, goalposts moved somehow seemingly.

Have we promised them Conor Thomas in the January window?

Maybe impressed with TM, his style & how this side are playing bit like how Swindon got so many decent loans last season.

I have a coventry season ticket and have friends that work for the club but I'll be honest I probably don't see our youth teams more than a couple of times a year.

I was just intrigued as to how a coventry fan could've seen the Liverpool u18s enough to judge a player

Could be something like that or the fact that with JM out for a few months they know he will get games. Maybe Swindon / Championship clubs couldn't offer that.

Where are we going to play all these forwards? That's 10 over 4 spots by my maths.
