SP wants him to play a wide role like Gareth Bale and although not comparing the two where they are in their respective careers, never the less feels this is the role for him.

What do you think?

I think if we have a solid enough Left Back. Haynes can put a good cross in which in theory should be great for Nouble and Madine. In theory it should work...

Looked lost against Walsall and I'm relatively sure that if we had an actual left mid he would be playing left back or not at all.

Although, he is only 18 and has a lot of time to learn the role. No comparison to Bale though, he was playing well in the championship at 18 IIRC.

I don't know if It really matters TBH.

On Saturday Reda played @ LB yet seemed to offer more in terms of crossing .

It was the position JOB or Swanson were signed for ,wasn't It?

Well JOB has clearly cemented the RM position, he could play badly for the rest of the season and I doubt he'd be dropped. I can't tell you why we signed Swanson, seems like one of those players who doesn't really have a position, or his position doesn't fit into the system. Then for the first part of the season they were pushed centre mid, but that's an entirely different discussion.

Back on topic, I know it's only been two games but I can't help think that Haynes will turn out to be one of those players who can be an attacking fullback, but can't quick crack left midfield, Danny Fox springs to mind.

The kids one of the few shining lights at City but they need to keep bringing him on steadily as his age and experience accords...............oh unless they are trying to get him in the shop window of course for the January sales !!

Reda offered more going forward as LB than Haynes did at LM. As a LB going forward you te nd to face the goal that you are attacking. As a LM you often have to play with your back to goal. Haynes is a good attacking LB jury out on him as LM.

Has got to be worth a try. He looked stunning in a few games earlier in the season until he was sussed by other teams. That said if he is backed up by a decent LB then he can and will be a handful. We really do need to make many more chances, so if he can facilitate that then its worth a try. Good luck to the lad, I really hope it works.

The thing with Swanson seems to be going the distance .

He's pretty Scrawny like a runt of the litter ,not that you have to be a powerhouse but you need the Engine.

He's been decent when he's had free space to run onto, seems to lack ideas and invention when the opposition tightly mark him.

I have been impressed by his 20 minute cameo's in the last few games, but never when starting, so yes I'd fully agree with that. Doesn't he have heart problems?

Swanson has struggled since he picked up his injury, but was brought in to play on the left where he did for Peterborough and ripped us and many teams a new arsehole last season.

Swanson once fit will come good I am sure.

Thought he looked lost vs Walsall, he didn't look like he knows how to play in midfield. I would rather play a proper wide midfielder there than Haynes. Just because bale was converted doesn't mean very half decent attacking fullback can be converted.

I think you play to your strengths. That would mean Haynes at LB and Reda back in the middle where Webster tends to tire after 65 minutes of getting his head on everything.

What we need right now is a Dennis Wise type figurehead in the middle of the park.

Who if anyone could fit that role currently?

Haynes - no pressure there then. Of course nothing like keeping quiet about one of our talents either, or advertising his talent in December

That's just me being sceptical and cynical though

To be fair the last person at this club to be compared to Bale was Chris Hussey so he hasn't too much to live up to.

absolutely agree - this lad has everything

pace
physique (same height as Bale 6' 2")
awareness
ball control
sweet left foot

a natural for that position

If he was allowed to stay on the left and not keep creeping inside where he was not effective at all V Walsall then it can't be a bad thing, if we can get a good enough LB behind him. Don't like Reda at LB. Be interesting to see Pugh behind him, although his legs might not be up for the pace
