Slightly surprised, but then perhaps it will do him good. Cambridge not struggling.

Yep. The lad needs games. He will either come back a better player or in the summer we will try and sell him.

Good move all round.

Perhaps someone sent a video highlights of him when he 1st burst onto the scene.. Hope it does him good because half the time he looks as though he is lacking confidence

Thought Cambridge were near the bottom, only 2 points off the play offs. Shaun Derry is manager too.

I wonder if he's gone there to play some games at left mid as he's been playing there for the U21s lately

Good move all round. I said a while ago that he could do with going out on loan to gain some confidence playing in the lower leagues. Hopefully he can kick his career on from it and we'll benefit long term as well as RH.

He's never going to be good enough - hopefully we will shift him on in the summer.

In terms if technical discipline and awareness one of the worst players I have seen at the club

Part comes from being neither a full back or a winger, but I don't think he has a long term future here.

In that category who would you rank him alongside then?

If we are looking at youth players coming through the ranks - Whing, Pipe, Finch, Ducros

I agree. Whilst there have been some obvious shining lights coming through there have been some pretty ordinary players such as Thomas, Finch and yes for me Haynes.

I think he is a prospect, needs games certainly not as bad as Grendel makes out

Personally, I don't think he's bad, just unremarkable.

He is awful and if we had not sacked Pressley and found Stokes we would have been relegated.

I get that u dont rate him but its absolute nonsense to say that we would have been relegated because of him.

I think there’s a decent chance that Haynes will prove you wrong. Regardless of whether you are right or wrong though, what exactly is the benefit in dishing out such extreme public criticism to one of young players? He’s only about 20 and still finding his feet, and (as has been said here) hasn’t necessarily settled on his best position yet.

I hope Ryan comes back from Cambridge stronger for the experience, and has a good career here or elsewhere.

I fail it see why I get singled out for making my views on this player when it's open season for abuse for the likes of Thomas and Murphy.

Thomas, though far better than Haynes, gets utter ridicule while the abuse Murphy gets is unbelievable.

I think Haynes has real potential to be a really good player, whether that potential is realised is another matter but I for one hope it is.
Good luck to him.

I think its your failure, and your comment after the Chesterfield game, to recognise someone who you think is gash can actually improve or when they play well to applaud it.

This can only be a positive for the development of Ryan. He needs game time to develop and we could benefit from having an improved player back for next season.

Sorry G, didn’t mean to “single you out” – you just happened to be in the firing line when I snapped a bit

I wouldn’t want to see the forum become bland, and footballers are in a very tough entertainment business so they have to be able to take criticism. But to survive as a club, we need to bring on young talent, and when criticism is as harsh as this or it turns to abuse (not you), I don’t see what it achieves. Anyway, I agree about Murphy and Thomas, and it’s great to see Conor getting some support on the other thread.

Doesn't look like an own goal to me. And he cleared the ball off the line earlier

Looked like he knocked it into the player and then it went in.

Yeah more of an assist than an og. Not good enough for a top end league one side. The goals we conceded when he had his run in the side post Christmas are testament to that.

Oh I just looked at Cambridge's Twitter page and it said Haynes scored an own goal so presumed it was right
