As we now know RS likes to resign former players he trusts and gets the best out of.
Nathan clarke I've said is one I've a strong feeling we will sign and make our captain immediately. Not included in Bradfords last 5 match day squads.

Another former interesting player is Lloyd James, a tough tackling midfielder who RS had at Leyton Orient, now at Exeter City. Contracted till the summer so would command a small fee and or Ivor Lawton in return on loan as part of a deal as a sweetener...

Surely a player of interest to RS in the Vincelot mould and add much needed experience and bite to our midfield potentially on a cheap deal.

Have we received all the vincelot money or is it in instalments? Could we get him back?

Clarke is under contract until the summer too.

I just can't see us spending any money to bring players in. I expect it to be loans and freebies.

Clarke will be cheap as chips, hardly used this season as they signed Vincelot and knight-Percival and like you say he's out of contract in the summer so can barely command a fee. Clarke will hopefully want to play week in week out again under a former manager and be captain

RS did say he was gonna wheeler deal, suggests sales to bring in his targets outside the existing budget

Anyone else feeling very optimistic for a good 2nd half of the season?

RS come in just over a week ago, had a few sessions here and there no time to install his beliefs fully due to preparing for each game over the festive period.
Gained a point away today, should/could been 3pts but still 1pts gains to end or terrible run.

Got straight to work contacting players for the 1st jan and identified his target to sign at the earliest opportunity.

What a refreshing difference, finally we have a manager who can operate in a league one business environment. A league one Harry Redknapp, wheeling and dealing form the word go.

Arghhhhh, no Harry splashes out on the wages, nothing like him.

More likely a player will have to go to finance the dealing.
If RS can do that yet still hold onto Andy Rose & Ben Stevenson he will be a bit of a miracle worker.
This may be the explanation if Sordell rumour proves to be true.

This morning I was expecting relegation. I am now getting the deluded thought that Slade is the one to kickstart a good run and scrape the playoffs

In the wheeler dealing sense, old fashioned beliefs....

I not too optimistic that we will retain Stevenson tho... think that's a given

Cheers. Would be a strange transfer. His goal scoring record isn't too different than Sordell's. 1 in 3/4. Sordell would be one of the players I thought we'd be fairly desperate to hold on to. Been off the boil in recent weeks but our only obvious goal scoring threat at present. Was baffled that he was benched ahead of Tudgay today. Perhaps this explains it.

Don't forget Sordell is out of contract end of the season...
could all be part of wheeling and dealing within the budget to maximise our capabilities in this window.

For some reason I thought Beavon was a big lump of a striker only 5"7 so he's not, if he can get his Didcot form back 100 goals in 130 appearances it won't be a bad move
; )

Suppose £50k fee for Sordell and he's probably our highest earner say £2k a week another £50k, frees up 1/2 players salary.

Certainly more optimistic after todays performance. At the very least they all seemed to put a shift in. The transfer window will be vital. Couple of decent signings and things could turn around.

I'd be ecstatic with mid-table and not a nail biting finish at this point.

I seen you mentioned Jay Simpson in an earlier post. He has handed in a transfer request today according to Sky. Where are you getting your info from or you just on a lucky streak? If so can I have the next lot of lottery numbers please haha

Ha ha, glad you asked...
yes I did predict Russell Slade getting the job, and we'd sign Nathan clarke too.
But I'm just a mere season ticket holder... no inside info just calculated punts! I've a fair knowledge of this level of football and time at work to look at players/managers career paths.
I'm on a roll it's fair to say.

It's telling that on the first day of the window he can have a decent league 1 defender in and TM seemed to struggle so much.

Hes pretty strong though, and leads the line very well- IIRC played as a lone striker foe burton. I wouldn't be unhappy about that.

Edit: I though we had an option for a further year with sordell?

Didn't he score against us last season at the Ricoh when Phillips tried to chest the ball out instead of hoofing it clear ?
