Brilliant performances. I’ve always said goalkeepers should earn you points or save you points whereas Collins was giving points away

Best 'keeper since Westwood, if not even better.

Westwood was so good over a few years. Think Rushworth has been good but a much much smaller sample size

Westwood is also my favourite keeper I've seen wearing Sky Blue

Didn't he mainly wear Green?

I did think someone would comment this haha.
However if I were to think Westwood it would be him playing in the purple kit

Rushworth is very good but I think he will be expensive and I just wonder whether the money might be better spent elsewhere, given that we already have an excellent goalkeeper in Dovin. I also suspect that other clubs higher up the Premiership ladder might be in for him, always assuming Brighton don't want him for themselves.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love us to get Rushworth if we can.

Rushworth will one day become an England international. I don’t think he’d be happy to play second fiddle at Brighton. Keepers like Trafford are a disgrace, happy to sit on the bench all season when he could be playing every week elsewhere

I think that's harsh on Trafford. He signed on the back of a great season for big money, back to his boyhood club after record clean sheets for Burnley. He was given the no1 shirt and expected to play, then they signed the best keeper in the world.

If we get promoted, i'd hope we'd make a cheeky bid for Trafford, he's a top keeper and victim of Pep changing his mind

Really? He's been consistently decent for a few seasons now.

Without looking at stats, I'd guess they'd back that up as well.

Now up to 9 clean sheets this year. Wonder if his eye is on Wilsons record.

Also been thinking about this in the event we’re quoted a high fee for Rushworth. He’s probably the better keeper and may agitate for a move.

Divin Dovin is not a Rushworth.
He may become.
But City can't wait for that development.
Out on loan or a season as a No2.

Rushworth is the best since Oggy.
Glazier Oggy & Rushworth our top 3.

I'm convinced we'll sign him if we go up.
10-12 mil I reckon.

Edit - I'm on about Rushworth

Will be absolutely heartbroken if we don’t manage to sign him next year.

Think it was @SkyBlueDom26 who said he was prem ready and I disagreed but clearly I was wrong as he is absolutely ready for the prem imo. Class player

I've got a theory, and itcould be bollocks because it's something I've conjured up in my own mind.

But I think Brighton, given their analytical approach to everything, had us pegged as having a good chance of promotion.

That's why they took a chance turning down our 5 million bid, knowing a succesful loan and a promotion would at least double his value.

I'm quite prepared for that theory to be dismissed and laughed at!

It’s totally logical. They’re fattening their goose. He was a bit undervalued after his bad luck last season. Brighton knew we needed a good keeper to push on this year so not much risk for them in turning down our offer to buy.

Don’t think it’s unreasonable to be fair.

Might be why they were happy to remove the recall clause

If we get promoted with Rushworth in goal I'm sure we'll sign him. He obviously loves it here and won't want to be loaned out for another season in the Championship when we go up. The only danger for us is if another Prem club offer a higher price and wages.

This is Doug we’re talking about.

£5m up front plus £10m if we stay up. Enough of those deals with enough PL clubs and it’ll be in everyone’s financial interest to let us win.

I’d like to sign Rushworth but also remember the excellent form Dovin was in before his injury. If we go up it’s possible we keep both. Given the amount of loans he’s had I have a sneaking suspicion Brighton might let him go for a bit less than we think.

He is, and he’s much better than Dovin. Ruthless I know but it’s not time for people to start saying he should be starting when he’s back fit, we’ve moved on and dovin isn’t prem standard yet. I’d loan him to the champ next season if we go up

Harsh on Dovin but it’s a harsh game at times.

If we go up, would probably keep him as our backup and cup keeper with the idea he can develop if we sign Rushworth of course.

It’s not harsh mate, he was ok for us last season nothing special. If we’re going up we need proven quality in positions, dovin is young though can see him developing into a good Keeper

I think the reality is, dovin is probably 12-18 months still from being the keeper he was.
ACL tear on a keeper is soooo much harder to recover 100% from than outfield.
