You're not wrong. Hes made just 10 appearances in the last 2 years, 36 years old, 37 in Jan.

Agree on that Stupot07.. Don't think they allow walking sticks on the pitch... Could be wrong, but don't think so

Woodgate, Ricketts and Turner as a centre back threesome. Even Micky Quinn would have the pace to terrorise those 3.

Turner is a lot quicker than you give him credit for mate. He's got a Footballers brain and reads the game superbly, so speed isn't the necessity in his case.

Agree with that. He's deceptively built so he looks like he should be a lumbering oaf, but it takes a lot to actually get the run on him in the first place.

Ha, ha. I must admit it was slightly provocative with historic Turner debate in mind. However, after all the injuries. He would need someone like Willis next to him to provide the cover if Turner is to be the ball winning monster that we need. In my opinion.

Woodgate, no thanks
Turner, yes please

Turner alongside Willis with an "old hand" sitting in the wings.

Agree he is one for the future but not week in week out if we are pushing for promotion.

To be fair to SBweeman, I believe he is taking the piss out of himself here.....

IIRC....SBweeman rather bluntly called out a rumour on here earlier this season that turned out to be bang on the money........resulting in lots of egg on his face.....I think....

....I could have imagined all of the above of course due to the top class green I've been smoking recently.....

He never said we were signing Woodgate as just a player. Id be happy if he came in as a player coach, mainly to guide lads like Harries, and playing the odd game if need be.

Edit* Did Woodgate ever play under TM at Middlesborough? i really could see him coming in as a coach if he has.

Could of been, was so funny because you could just sense he'd been getting
more and more pissed off with it , without saying anything.
And then the op on this came up, and he unleashed a full on torrent of bile
And expletives, literally 15 mins later "signed"
LOL

For a while yeah, Woodgate joined them in summer 2012 and Mowbray left in late 2013.

Also went through the thread posted to make sure I didn't say any dick-ish 12 months ago.

I really could see him coming in as a coach then. What ever is said about Woodgate, if it was not for his bad injury record he would of been a top, top player. Having him coaching our young defenders would be great.

Maybe he is being lined up to coach the U21s would be a good addition for the younger players to learn from. I think the one think the Cole transfer proved to TM was the influence he had on the younger members of the squad. He and Woodgate are still known by the younger players and will be respected for the careers they had here and in abroad, both similar in what they achieved in the game as well and how good they were, even if most will look and say what could of been with the talent they had.

I would say this rumour is and would be a nice story and one that may have legs because of the JC type influence, as a player i don't see it. Will be interested to see if this ever came true where Rickett's and Tudgay fit into the coaching System TM seems to be going down. Woodgate is a high profile Name and in my opinion like Cole would put our name in the media for the first time in a long time with a positive twist. It could work, will it happen?, question is would Woodgate want to move to coach when he is made for life and has no experience of coaching?

Time will tell, but nothing about this club shock's me anymore, they seem no matter of how bad its ran or the trouble its in off the field we still can attract a decent level of player and manager.
