Sounds like it is over the line. Just in time for him to get injured at Nuneaton.

Reda Johnson has agreed a one-year deal with #skyblues and should complete this afternoon #pusb

Latest tweet from AT! Great news!! (Obviously will wait for it to be unveiled on the website before doing a triple backflip)

Why are we creating a good team, this isn't supposed to happen. We're supposed to finish 17th every season.

Good news. Especially if he is on a reduced wage.

Hopefully him and Rickets stay fit and are a great pair to have at the back

I've posted this recently but his impact on the team was quite incredible, he did seem to galvanize the team and gave us a lot of confidence, it compares to Dion Dublin as we looked so poor when he was out injured. Also the other thing that can't be underestimated, this should reduce Aaron Martin's time on the pitch a win win

Coventry City defender Reda Johnson has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The 27-year old has penned a new deal which keeps him with the Sky Blues for the 2015/16 season after talks with manager Tony Mowbray.

Johnson made 22 appearances during the 2014/15 season, scoring six goals, including a brace on his debut in the 3-2 defeat at Bradford City.

The central defender played the last five games of the season to help City retain their League One status last season.

Mowbray said: "As I've stated previously, I see Reda as a crucial part of our plans going forward.

"He stands out at this level in central defence and at the end of last season, our defensive performances were much improved with him in the side.

"It is no secret that we'd like to see him make more appearances during a season but with the help of physiotherapy department, I'm sure we can manage him in a way to help him do that.

"Also, he carries a significant goal threat from set-pieces and if we're going to succeed, we need goals from all around the pitch next season."

There's another picture of him in a wooly Cov hat, which really ruins the cool leather jacket look he's got going on.

Good news, just needs to stay fit enough to play 35-40 games for us. Fingers crossed.

From Kieran Crowley -

"@KieranCrowley1 - Don't underestimate the pull of Tony Mowbray. Without him, that signing wouldn't have happened. It's been a good week for #CCFC. #PUSB"

i think the team is taking shape.. ricketts & reda will be a strong defense, stromng work rate and ability in midfiled from obrien & vincelot , we really do just need that bit of creativty in attack and there is a certainly a strong enough side to be up there in league 1 im sure!!

im feeling better about getting up the ricoh now, than i was 2 weeks ago that for sure.

More good news! Hopefully TM's plan of not having him go all out in training will mean we get more games from him this year.

Looks like we could be quite solid at the back. Think having a couple of experienced players in front of him will benefit Burge.

This is the guy who went toe to toe with the last manager and played an average of 20 games a season for the last 7 years or so. So far I like the look of the French bloke and a couple of the kids, the rest I have reservations about !

The stats dont lie, we won more games with Reda in the side than without him.

He needs to be managed properly and realise he isn't the finished article. No Championship sides were in for him which says a lot.

His attitude isn't right and I wouldn't have him near the captains arm band.

But he has a lot of talent and qualities which he needs to harness in the right way. Hopefully TM will help him do that. I am glad he has signed but wouldn't have been crying if he hadn't.

It is his career and up to him to full fill it, he isn't getting younger.

Life and soul actually, I just find the whole CCFC saga a bit of a damp squib dominated by politics more than half decent footie. Reda adds some steel but he's unreliable for 60% of the season.
