Welsh looked nervous on the anthems didn't they?

Hopefully smash them

Wales won, England out in group stage unless they can beat Australia

What on earth was George Ford doing when he came on? Every opportunity he just pumped long balls back to the Welsh around their 22, instead of putting high balls with less distance that England players at least had a chance of competing for.

Please excuse my ignorance as not a big rugby fan, but shouldn't England have kicked their last penalty over the posts to get at least a draw?

It was a difficult kick. Am guessing they believed if they missed that it was game over, while a try would almost certainly have given England the win.

Whenever I have seen England play lately they always seem error riddled. Lots of silly little penalties and knock on's and key set pieces lost. We still a lot of the time have trouble at the scrum and line-out too.

There is no way they should have lost that match tonight.

Play like that though and they deserve to get knocked out the tournament.

Should have went for the sticks at the end. England were poor against Fiji so really had to up their game but it just didn't happen. Can't take anything from the Welsh, they battled for every ball and kicked superbly

Best team won.

I am an England fan, as well as a great admirer of the Welsh team, as they generally play more interesting rugby than England, I thought wales deserved the result and well done to them, it was a brutal but brilliant game.

I know nothing about this sport but a cursory glance at the leagues suggests the teams in this group seem stronger than the others.

Is this fair?

There are elements that seem unfair, like seeding or lower nations not getting the same recovery times as elite teams
This also happens with the football WC

Thus support Wales in rugby

Not sure that's true. Pretty sure that the group matches are scheduled that all teams in all groups have one four day turn around between games.

Another thread that started out with reasonable people discussing things in a civilised and adult manner has yet again been derailed and marred by the usual embittered minority who tarnish almost every thread on the entire forum.

This resentful bunch seem unable to face reality and are either unable or unwilling to accept that those expressing unbiased opinion and facts are indeed doing just that. Instead they must be “Wasps lovers”, Franchise supporters”, “Plants” etc. It’s pathetic!

This group of people – and you know who you are – need to grow up and accept the situation this football club is in, get over it and move on like most of us have.

88 pages on the “December Stadium Deadline” thread. Utterly ludicrous! Yet another example of a perfectly well intentioned thread up for discussion being hijacked by the bitter and twisted. Round and round in circles over the same ground regurgitated and argued over hundreds of times previously. What is it all for? What are you gaining by it? You’re wasting your lives away!

It’s become an obsession and you’ll make yourselves ill over it. For christ’s sake give it up and leave it all behind you. The team’s doing well, just enjoy that.

Our football club could be homeless in the near future and it is better just not to think about it.

Funny that you don't say the same about those who endlessly bring up Sisu, why not? The December stadium deadline thread exploded due to Wasps supporters antagonising CCFC supporters, yet again you ignore this and attack fellow CCFC fans.

Pathetic.

I've got some news for you here that might shock you. Ahem, Coventry City Football Club is owned by SISU.

Someone got the ball rolling on the December deadline thread with Wasps and that was you, grendull, Nick and torch. You and grendull then made sure that the ball kept rolling dragging people into it. Myself included which I accept is my own stupid fault but don't try and make out it got derailed by others. It didn't and it's all there for everyone to see.

In fact if you and grendull keep going that way we'll soon have to have a CCFC sub forum.

As purely a selfish CCFC fan would it not be good news if England are knocked out early as Rugby will not get the boost it would if they were to win it so our landlords will not get a boost from it?

Yeah and unfortunately England may have just got shot. Need a result against Australia now. Big ask now for England to progress.

Fair play to Wales though.

I don't want England to get knocked out at all, but the minute they do I will indeed be hoping that rugby achieves no boost from the thing and that Wasps's Initial appeal wanes badly.

It was quite clearly a joke with Simon and was tongue in cheek.

I don't see why people are so keen to have Wasps fans on here just here to wind people up with no interest in CCFC?

Haha I would like to see lots of people suffer for our demise. BR, the council, SISU and other bastard that has had their finger in the pie but not the England Rugby team. Mind you they were intolerably shit last night and deserve to go out

I would be a lot less irritated by England if they didn't endeavour to fall short by the closest margins in the same fashion. 2 years in a row we come 2nd in the 6 Nations on a whisker of a points difference, the games we lose have to be thrown away in the final stages from in front and so on and so on. I would prefer they make like the cricket team and get hopelessly trashed so no expectation is generated.

Firstly - this thread is about the rugby world cup - want to discuss wasps, or how much you think rugby is shit fuck off elsewhere.

Anyway back to the topic - last night was just WOW for me. Absolutely amazing. I don't think England fans should be so negative it was an amazing game and both teams played very well. Had the result been reversed everyone would be saying how amazing England played. As a neutral it would have been fantastic to watch. Ultimately both teams made mistakes and realistically the likes of New Zealand or Australia at full force will most likely ease past either team. I think Ireland is the best chance the northern hemisphere has. Or France as on their day they can beat anyone, but nobody likes them.

I was literally the only Welsh fan within about 5 rows but of course the banter is always great - having said that the atmosphere was the most intimidating rugby atmosphere I've ever been in.

Shook hands with everyone around me after the game, said good luck against Australia. 1 guy was gobsmacked that I wanted England to beat Australia and progress with Wales.

Out of about 30 English fans I spoke to only 1 told me to fuck off. Which wasn't too bad considering the nature of the result/game.

My concern now is the injuries. Obviously the pressure is off but we are down to bare bones so getting a result against Fiji let alone Australia is going to be difficult.

There's still hope that both teams can progress but it's going to be a big ask.

Watched the game in the pub and couldn't believe we never won it as we were going well and on top.Yet love the fight from the Welsh who kept going and edged it in the end. It's going to be tough to beat the Aussies though who just walloped Uruguay with not a full strength side, but win we must !
