Didn't realise he was half American. His grandad and dad were born there, but cos his dad hasn't lived there for 5 years, Jack can't get an American passport. He's been approached to play for USA but can't.. Maybe if he marries Haji he can get a spouse one??????

Pretty sure it’s only his grandfather. I know people with USA passports who’ve got one through parents who haven’t lived there in decades.

The Coventry City star’s grandfather is American, currently living in Monterey, California, and his dad was born there. Rudoni has tried to apply for a US passport but red tape stipulates that because his dad hasn’t lived there for the last five years then he doesn’t qualify.

This is from CT so could be BS

I think it’s 5 years in their life rather than the last 5 years.

I don’t think you need a passport to get picked.

Just need prove that one of your grandparents/parents has been born in that country.

Birth certificates for yourself to prove who your parents are and the Birth Certs of parent/grandparent proving they were born in that country.

You don’t need a passport-just need to be eligible for one.

So I’m calling bullshit on the approached by the US to play.

As Sporting organisations (esp during a home World Cup year) can often get special dispensation for passport applications.
